Default HPFP flow numbers. Cobb. Acceptable range

Hello,

I have never had real issues yet. I'm just curious

I own a 2012 speed3 I bought used and I am the 3rd owner.
The second owner was my brother
The first owner put short shift kit In, and motor mounts.
My brother had the car installed with a cobb accessport stage 1
Short ram intake
And turbo inlet hose.

The turbo charger from stock was blown to bits at 90,000km while my brother owned it and if anyone wants to see a video of a speed3 shooting white smoke badly please email me.
It was replaced under warranty and I acquired the car at 110,000km. It current has 153,000km so 60k on new turbo. I don't race it but yeah I spank on it from time to time.
As it was sold to me those are the upgrades on the car and I have done no more

My question is
I do have the cobb accessport and I CAN log fuel flow data. I just don't know what numbers I'm looking for and I don't know if the HPFP internals have been installed. And I'm not mechanical enough to rip my car apart to find out an I'm too poor to pay someone for it.

If I data logged my car and did a few open throttle runs would anyone on this forum be able to tell me what is GOOD/BAD/ACCEPTABLE fuel flow numbers. And from there be able to say yeah stock HPFP or upgraded aftermarket based on the #s ???
Thanks alot.

Not sure if you can tell the pump by the pressure if it doesn't fail....It is a commended value and it will work as needed until the pump volume capacity (flow) from the pump get lower than what the injector wants at a specific engine rpm...And critical point is in the middle where the boost can be built but engine rpm isnt high enough to pump enough fuel flow...
But you also need cold temperature conditions to confirm because it could be ok for summer but not at winter time as the air density is higher and need more fuel...

This is why you better open the pump to check than trying to guest run lean when you dont look at it

If you check for leaks and you didn't made a test under compressor pressure, you aren't done checking for leaks....

So your advice would be to rip my motor apart and figure it out ?

I have had the accessport logging before as I hit full throttle as I passed into mid range rpm. (3k or so) it didn't Have flow issues.

To my knowledge if you have a tune and a turbo inlet hose and a intake you NEED the HPFP internals upgrade.

If my car didn't have it. Would i have noticed on the datalogging?

Or does my car not require it?

I run
Stage 1 off the shelf accessport tuned for 91 fuel with intake and inlet.

Any input is appreciated. I'm a chef for a career but this car has become a hobby

not the motor but just the pump....it isn't bad to clean the assembly at the same time and replace the oring...especialy if you ran some ethanol mix....

and yes you should have upgraded pump on a gen2 at your level as a safety requirement. But the problem may be seen only under specific conditions where the engine is producing is maximum torque with cold air, good atmospheric pressure etc.

a datalog during the coldest winter day in fourth gear while the car isn't heat soaked with a clean intake filter will let you confirm if you have enough flow of not. A summer log means nothing....
If you see a very low afr under boost, it could be another sign of bad pump.
During the test, the engine must not overboost because this is triggering a normal pressure drop that isn't coming from the pump but that could be mistaken of low fuel pressure...

Unless you are very confident you can do yourself the worst fuel angry test your car can see under your usual driving conditions, or you would better check the pump itself to confirm...

Ok

So best guess. Rip the pump apart and go from there.

I literally joined this site a day ago or so
Proud to be here but too busy to read read read.
What do you know about installing a stock '13 Oem tech package head unit in a 12 speed3 with tech package?

Can it be done? I own a 12 but I want the 13 oem head unit or should I just go aftermarket lol Mazda of Peterborough said 2400 brand new plus tax

When you disassemble the pump you’ll know right away if it has been upgraded. The stock piston is the same diameter as the shaft. It looks like a cigar. The upgraded version has the same size shaft but a much larger bulb on the end. That’s the actual piston.
