If I didn't have my son and wife with me I'd be camping with everyone else. Also if you consider sleeping in a campground with maintained gravel rock pads for campsites " "roughing" it well.....

I don't. Or at least- only in comparison to the Microtel. I'm a backpacker. Car camping is as close to a hotel as I can justify. Also, because I'm cheap.

The Rivals are nearly slicks after more than 2 hours of track time last Monday at Autobahn country club. Guess I need a set of RE71R's in the 255 flavor if I still want to attend this, lol.

I'm in the same boat. Track day raped my tires. I think I'm just gonna replace mine now since I'll need them next season anyway. I think I'm gonna get Michelin PSS's... right now stock sized ones are $750 shipped AR from Tire Rack which will be worth it for me if they last the warrantied 30k miles.

So...I had somehow learned of the time period of this meet and marked it on my calendar but otherwise had no information and neglected to dig through the forums to find this thread...but I am planning on going at this point. I think I would drive down Thursday and drive back Sunday.

My parents are trying to dump some huge tent on me right now since they know I am planning on going to this. It's apparently pretty huge, large enough for like 8 people, and my dad says he's used it many times and it takes less than 10 mins to set up due to some clever design they used. I didn't know if this was something anyone would be interested in...I snore, so...I might be best off just giving this tent to some non-snoring people and staying at the hotel with some other people who snore. lol Anyway, this tent can be yours for the low low price of $0.00.

What's the plan right now anyway? Have people booked hotel rooms or campsites yet? I read through the thread but didn't find much.

right now i have the two small primitive cabins rented at the campground like we always do. they are booked up with dragon camp vets.

there will be several people staying at the campground, but the sites (other than RV sites) are first come first serve. lots of guys went in and rented out the RV sites at spring camp/enm. they have power and are close to the bathrooms.

im bringing a fishing pole for one day and getting my bass master on.

a month away....im going to start hyping this up more. ive been busy with builds builds and more builds and helping a good friend move.

wish @Raider; could get this on the front page . i know you've tried!

I'm on the fence about coming down, now. I was ready to pull the trigger on some new RE71R's and I got offered a SWEET deal on a set of corner scales. They so rarely come up for sale that I had to get them. So, I may come down on some super sweet all seasons. Just think, you guys might be able to keep up if that happens



Watch out on the RE71R's, I'm not convinced they'll be good for extended sessions. They're designed to heat up quickly and to make peak grip at low temp. I haven't read anything about them on a road course because everyone seems to be worried about how bad they'll get when hot, haha.

yup. it was a week later....and kind of rare for the area. i was on RS3s. my car stayed parked lol. i hope to not have that problem this year. it was unseasonably cold last year.

I'll be on RS3's for Fall Camp but plan on getting RE-71's for Spring Camp. I wish we had some members here already running the RE-71's so we could have 1st hand info.

I don't think you have both cabins rented... I've got confirmation I rented one of them, just want to make sure we haven't double booked/payed.

Not sure we need to hype fall camp like we do spring camp. I feel you on being busy though. The hype is going to be mostly your responsibility this go around, since I still have another month of craziness scheduled.

Camp should be a great vacation for me. I'll have been going non-stop for 8 months by that point. Promotion, working on the road, moving, wedding, etc... The week before camp is when my schedule clears out for the end of the year, so I'm seriously looking forward to this.

Only thing I need to do to the car for prep is front struts. Pretty sure I'll be going with Koni yellows. Going to wait until the spring to swap out the rears due to budget issues.

The front passenger side is blown and the car pushes that way in hard left corners.

Aren't they different between the Juan and Pu?

I thought about going this route and the price is definitely right. I'll wait until the end of this month to make a call. I could even do two new OEM struts for the price of one Koni yellow. The car is lowered on H&R springs though, so something designed for that application is probably a better bet. As long as I can afford them, I'll be going Koni's.

Flooded tent...that doesn't sound like fun at all. Which campsite did you stay in?

I googled and it looks like some of the standard tent sites are actually on wooden decks. That might be good for avoiding getting as wet and muddy as other sites. I don't know what the RV sites are like - although access to power is appealing.

Not too familiar with the campground as I've only been there once. Anyone have any input?

My bad, didn't realize you had a Gen1. I know the Gen1 and Gen2 have different part numbers, but I always assumed they were interchangeable because they looked identical when we did coilovers on a couple cars one day. Of course, there could have been small dimensional differences I couldn't see with my eyes, and I'm sure the valving is different. You're right, though. Might as well spring for the good stuff.

I'm not sure John - it was gravel. We dropped a tarp and then plopped the tent - the wind driving the rain put 1/2" of precip in my sleeping bag. Wet ass made for grumpy ass and we spent the last night in the Microtel.
