Default Any Chance of Seeing Chassis Braces?

Are you guys looking in to the posibility of making chassis braces seeing as how it is hard to find GT Spec ones anymore?

JSC Speed has a line of the GTSPEC bracing for the Speed 3's. My only complaint is that they do cost a decent penny, but what doesn't?

FYI gt spec has been know to have "meh" braces (in the subaru world where i come from). By "meh" i mean that their finish is incredible and great quality but bracing critical components is lacking.

Something stronger and more readily available would be awesome!

I would be interested in seeing what JBR can come up with. The rest of his products are badass. Why not build chassis bracing.

+1000. Possibly some aluminum ones. There's no reason some of those need to be that heavy steel. If designed properly aluminum is strong enough.

Better start simulating chassis flex forces to determine that one. Considering Aluminum is 1/3 as strong as Steel. Not only that, but the amount of aluminum you would need would not make it cost efficient by any means. Weight that low on the car is also not going to hurt you by any means.

True on the weight being that low part. But cost would come down quite a bit. 1/3 the strength doesn't mean you need 3x the metal. Considering how shitty the stock braces are, it would be easy to make a substantial improvement over stock with aluminum. And it wouldn't be as much metal as you think.

Unless you find a way to change the way the braces would fasten to the chassis I honestly don't see how it would cost less. You'd have to use more aluminum to make up for the strength by creating more triangles within the bracing. Not only that, but then you'd have to TIG everything together. I just don't see how that would be cheaper.

No.

The ladder brace , I think that's what's it's called, is a thick piece of unsophisticated stamped steel that weighs about 10 pounds. The brace that replaces it is about 2.

Our current list of projects is long but I will look at this. I spend a lot of time under these cars so I can give this some thought while working on other things.

Thanks for the suggestions!!

I love wrinkled steel!
