jbr 80 duro billet rmm

well, i got my jbr 80 duro billet rmm in on monday. despite an initial delay in shipping, jamie provided great service and i had my mount before the revised ship date. nice!

so, i started with a trz poly dogbone. i loved it and had it for a while, no issues. however, the drone and rattles were getting to me, so i sold the trz and bought a su 60 duro rmm. it smoothed the car out so much, which i loved. however, the drivetrain bounce was getting to me so.. jbr!!

i just installed it today and i gotta say, this thing is fucking huge. the hugeness turned out to be a pain in the ass though. for the trz and su mounts, i only had to undo the 2 bolts holding the mounts in and swap them out. getting the trz and su mounts in required some forceful jiggling, but nothing too bad. the jbr is so big i didn't have enough room to do that, so i had to take off the mounting bracket that bolts to the transmission case. holy fuck, those bolts were epic to undo. i had to pound on my wrench with a sledge to undo them. in addition, my 20 month old son was kicking it with me and started crying and whining 3/4 of the way through.. this did not help. next time i get a babysitter..

i took a pic of the jbr next to the su, but my lame ass phone somehow did not save the pic.. sorry.

well, i haven't driven it yet. the car is still up on blocks as my son sleeps on my chest.. i'll post initial thoughts tonight and then a follow up as it breaks in. i sure hope this strikes the balance between stiff and quiet that i'm looking for. i surely do not want to take this hulk of a mount out..

The transmission bracket must come off for the CP-E, SURE, and mine as well or you will not get them on. I think you're going to love the new mount.

Yeah, I had to remove that bracket for my SU mount. Used a breaker bar and those bolts were off faster than if I had tried to wrestle it in.

all right a quick note: this thing is the bomb. i love it. it is the exact balance b/w stiff and quiet i was looking for. as quiet as the su, if not more so, and plenty stiff for me.. that huge bushing is at once solid and forgiving, no drivetrain bounce, no vibes.

i don't have enough room under the car to use a breaker bar.. time to get jackstands i guess. i don't think i'll be changing the rmm for a while, though..

I actually just got my jbr 80 duro rmm today but haven't installed it yet due to my work schedule and the hobby shop hours. I do have to say that when i opened the bulging box and pulled that rmm i said something to the effect of, "holy fuck that's fucking huge!!!". I believe that if japan had the jbr rmm bushings on there nuclear plant when the earthquake happened they probably would have not noticed it! lol

This is a perfect example of "Bigger is Better". The combination of the big bushing and big solid housing provides both the performance you'd expect from the mount with out the sacrifice in ride quality. It's my opinion, and I believe everyone will feel the same, this is the best rear motor mount available.
