Default JBR Cobb AP mount

I'm looking to buy the JBR Cobb AP mount but had a question about it's stability. I'm currently just dropping the AP in the cup-holders of my MS3 but that won't work for my track days.

I've got to remove from my car anything that can go flying in the event of a crash. If I had this installed properly and the AP velcro'd to the mount point, would it go flying in the event of a crash?

I went ahead and purchased this today as well as the dogbone RMM.

Thanks to the great install instructions with pictures, I got approval for use during my next track day. I'm looking forward to getting to use my AP while pushing the car to the limits.

If you install it as describe in the install instructions ,and get the goose neck molded in to position using two hands initially, it will be quite stable for you.

Thanks,
Jamie

Thanks, I actually just got done installing it. The instructions were great and the product is very stable.

This product is going to be a godsend on my next track day. Everyone should buy one of these.

I had it like that but kept hitting it with my TWM shifter. I agree thou it was a way better spot n my knee never realy touched it even in tight corners.

@jbarone How much does it take up on the passenger side. Last thing I want is someone to keep hitting it with there knee or be in the way or something. haha

It takes up very little room and can be positioned out of the way of the passengers knee. It also can be mounted on the drivers side which is where I have mine.

Thanks,
Jamie

If worried still, you can always just either velcro strap it, or get a couple zip ties to hold it before you go crashing, I mean racing.

This may be a silly question. But the mounting will work the same on an MS6, correct? The mount looks promising but I always want to double check on compatibility before dropping the coin.

You know what I love?? The fact that you have a short shift kit and sway bar kit for the Mazda 5 over at JBR.

Don't go to radio shack and buy "hi temp/hi strength velcro" Turns out that stuff is like superglue when the two peices are put together. But if worried about it flying off, you might want to pick some up.

Gonna bump this ancient thread instead of starting a new one.

The mount is a solid piece. Very little wobble and extremely easy to install. I was looking into how to wire the AP cable but didnt find any pics so thought I should upload some.

Could be cleaner but oh well...

This is where the cable enters the center console. You will have to take out the panel at the drivers side at the very front to get clearance. Once passed into the center console, I decided to zip tie the AP cable with existing wiring for my car just so it doesnt get caught up in the shifter somewhere.

And this is where it exits on the passenger side.

And final product!

Also since its customary...

If the temp ever goes north of 100 you might consider zip tying the AP to the mount. It slides off if you are not careful.

Does it? Hmmm may have to think about something else...

You could always drill the panel and slide through it...just seemed too much work since you can't really see it and doesn't get in the way

It does. You should turn the mount horizontal when you unplug just to be sure.

I bought a Y cable for mine. Freaks out the dealers but other then then that the loose cable is no problem.
