I found the same thing. When I ran a cp-e nano SRI my IAT's were lower with that piece of oem intake ducting removed. Lower BAT's were inconclusive but IAT's were definitely better. The best way to lower IAT's with an SRI is to remove the weather stripping at the rear of the hood. IAT's dropped a solid 4* with that free mod.

Oem intake ducting meaning the one with the round end. That's the one i removed. The square one that clips to the radiator housing I left in. IAT's (under hood temps) got hotter when I removed it so I re installed it.
