Default Reviews: RMM, Short Shifter, Solid Bushings, Shift Knob

So I recently purchased all this stuff and installed it on my '12 MS3, thought Id throw a review up after ~3 months or so...

RMM: Extremely easy to install, eliminates firewall destruction on hard decel/accel, tons of vibes for first 1000 miles, not too bad afterwards, With AC on I still get some rattling of my speedo cluster surround while idling and at 2500 RPM...to be expected, just thought Id put the info out there one more time

Short shifter: Again, extremely easy to install, very modifiable throw distance. Not a fan of the installation causing the air box to kind of just...float there...and also not mate up with the rest of the ducting very well. Also, this caused me to pop out of gear under extreme braking during autocross even after adjusting it 1000 different ways in the cabin and in the engine bay. Uninstalled for good.

Solid Mounts: AWESOME. Seriously best mod Ive done to the car. No more limp wobbly shifter.

Shift knob: Hate how you have to "tap" the adapter with the stock shifter, just seams like a poor design. Not sure why the OEM thread couldnt be matched? Also, after 3 months my powdercoat is already wearing through in 4-5 spots. Not very noticably unless you are in the car every day....which I am. Still, combined with the solid shifter mounts, makes a huge difference.

Thats all. Overall Im pretty happy for what I payed and the customer service. I will be ordering a RSB soon My complaints are mostly just to put it out there for other people who may autocross to know not to get the short shifter or you will be uninstalling...or driving with one hand on the shifter.

Assume JBR?

Ha, I did the same 3 months ago! If you get an intake, you can get rid of the 'box' and the little gromet 'rests', then go back and use the SSP.

Chrome molly RMM? I got the 70 duro, and was very pleased, afterwards saw most get the chrome molly. I am only DD, though. No more missed shifts, at least that are not my fault. May get chrome molly someday.

RSB I installed a couple of months ago, deffinitly tightened up under steer.

I have had my short shift plate for years, one of the first mods on my car and I've never had any issues daily driving or racing.

I am disappointed with the finish of my shift knob though, the coating is chipping off mine as well, it only lasted about 6 months if that. Didn't think install was bad, and love the way it feels when I'm driving.

For Auto-x, how do you like the MS3 shifting in general?

I have never auto-x, but curious what impressions of the throw, and ease of getting in gear. Even with the bushings, the feal is very notchy, like you you are def moving linkage. I also wonder if heavy knob hurts or helps in this.

I am by no means great at auto-x, but that was mostly due to my all season tires and crap suspension. As far as the heavy knob/bushings/ssp goes I love it. It def needs to be figured out and takes some getting used to, but I can move through the gears like butter.

Ok so right there you just proved why your short shifter wasnt a problem...you arent good at autox haha. Until you are a decent racer with good tires, you will never stop hard enough to bounce it out of gear...Also, who knows the difference between generations.

Also, I cant change intakes or I would. It moves me out of my current class.

Just my $.02

SSP is well worth the $ and effort

Bushings not so much, the rubber grommets are compressed very hard and the sleeve limits how tight it can go anyways, main reason I didn't was to use the bushings for the air box

Just put in the solid shifter bushings today, night and day difference in shifter feel. My bushings metal components were bent up when I took them out! No wonder the 1st-2nd shift was messed up.

Overall, way worth the 25 dollars spent. This was accompanied by an already installed 70 duro RMM, FOCO Trans Fluid, and a modaddiction shift knob; shifts fantastic now!
