Yea I've been thinking about that. I'm slightly pissed that I didn't just use the same hose as the oil drain. Will definitely have to do something. Any suggestions for heat sleeves?

Yeah dei I think? Fuckin auto zone should have it, cut to fit. You probably only need 6-10" on each line, just enough to protect it from the turbo heat.

amazon has 36" of the DEI velco wrap for $30. The non velcro is only $14 for the same length. I also have heat reflective tape, but that would prob just make a mess.

preloaded the wastegate arm as much as possible and now I spike to 18, and flucuate between 16-18. blah.

I will get a log after this rain is done.

cut the arm shorter to increase effective preload. Looking pretty decent. Just need more boost and timing, ethanol would help too to get there.

New bracket and 14psi WGA installed. Gonna have to lessen the preload a bit, spiking at 20, settling at 15 by redline with MBC cranked all the way down.

Now on the list is a new downpipe. slowly but surely...

I'll at least have the spike worked out by then with the MBC. Plan is to have a reverse taper to 22 or whenever I run out of fuel on 93, but I need to do some learning on those boost control tables

results from PA dyno day, 355/333. 350 was my goal, so I'm happy. she pulls hard to redline. OTS timing still. reverse taper from 17psi@4000rpm to 21psi by redline. the boost curve was done by @atvfreek in 4 revisions cause hes the man...



I'll post some logs later.

The curves look great, and that should keep your clutch happy until you can get something stronger! Pretty stoked we were able to hit over 350 on just pump gas and OTS timing. That turbo has a lot of potential!

You can buy just the Bosch pigtail for around 30, but would have to splice it in. The PNP harness is pretty nice though

fuck yea...won't be able to launch hard though I think, the clutch was slipping when I was on the MBC @~20psi. But I'll definitely give it a shot. If I was thinking forward, I'd give up all of those attempts to break 14.0 on the stock turbo, lol. I counted my slips the other day, and there was over 50 of them lol. Best was a 13.5@106.95 on a cool october afternoon in canada country. only was able to do it once

Car sat in storage for the winter. Haven't changed much. Mounts, speakers, amp, Mazdaspeed catback.

oil, new plugs a couple weeks ago. Put in a gallon of E85 and bumped timing up a few degrees.

Was cold tonight. Heres a log. Gonna try to go out tomorrow night and play some more.

yeah the idea is that it *should* give me some more headroom. I don't have pump e85 anywhere near me, and I've been holding back on a meth setup. efficiency is what I'm striving for.

I picked it up last year from the original owner. its a top-mount, not really sure who made it. john russel maybe? It needs to be cleaned up a bit on the inside, and gonna get it ceramic coated.

Bumping my old thread because I feel like I should contribute something to this forum that is dead af.

I still have the car, and I am still running the 3071r. That stupid-ass top mount manifold didn't fit worth a shit, so I put the plans on the back burner for another year. I ended up buying the FJ Performance manifold, and still used the ebay T3-in/vband-out stainless knock-off Tial housing that @Tomas; has vouched for.

I bought the HTP hotside undermount kit to use since the FJ requires the turbo to point down. I also asked HTP if they could fab up a custom cold-side for me for my CP-e core, even with a custom BOV flange (using the Turbosmart Race Port valve, sounds amazing), and they came through for a good price.

I worked with a buddy of mine to fab up a fully custom downpipe and wastegate setup. Everything we used for the fab is from Vibrant and is 3" v-band. The downpipe is in two pieces, and I used one of those baller Vibrant GESi high-flow cats. I also put the vband flanges on the cat piece, and have a straight through piece for when I feel like saying fuckoff and spitting fire around town with the 2-step. I am running the old-school 3" Mazdaspeed OEM upgrade catback.

The only issue I've had with this setup is that after a few thousand miles, the bolts that old the turbine housing to the CHRA completely backed out. I ended up needing to pull the turbo to fix them, and to make sure it wouldn't happen again, I used drilled head bolts, and tied them together with safety wire.

I am the original owner of this car. 80k miles, 9 years old this summer, and it barely burns any oil. I still fucking love this car, and I still love working on it and surprising the shit out people. Mazda made a winner here kids, this car is still strong, has no issues, and I don't want to give this thing up.

My MAF is calibrated, I run 13° of timing up top, and my logs consistently say 400 g/s of airflow.

I said I would never do it, but I think I'm just gonna drop a meth kit with a fat nozzle and say fuck it, see how far this 3071r will go. over the winter I might rebuild the motor and send the turbo off to FP to turn it into an HTA.
