As for fitment, the ewg would be right below the hotside, near the DP. And on my ms3 theres plenty of room in that area I just checked. As for the ms6, im not too sure Anthony, but on my ms3 there is plenty of room down there.

worked out that my current IWG set will push 350whp at sea level so will a person really benefit more with this? Only if the ar 0.55 is increased with this EWG mani compared to their standard GT3071R IWG bolt on mani?? Last edited by EwMPS; 02-23-2011 at 02:10 AM. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Nice! They've always made housings like that but i've never seen the vehicle specific one. If I remember correctly, -CJ- was bolting up a turbo with a similar housing - it wasn't specific to our car, but it was an externally gated housing. My concern would definitely be space.. it must be a tight squeeze in there.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I dont think so Tyler on the ms3...am I smoking crack? lol.....I took quick peek and there seems to be decent amount of room "underneath" the turbine housing in my ms3. From the pictures on atp turbo, the flange is on the bottomside of the turbine housing, then you would vband your tial wg obviously. You may have a fairly sharp bend in your dump tube, but with you wg already being down low by the dp, you could make it nice and short...least thats what Im thinking, but I could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time.

On a sidenote regarding efr turbos, I am going to wait a bit and see what developes, and for guys who dont have anything bt wise, OR looking to switch setups alltogether...awesome!!..Im very excited that Full Race is looking into our platform, major reason why Iam willing to help in anyway possible. But at same time I just want a nice honest 350ish whp, I know the atp 3071 will do it for me, I have one of the best tuners in the country in Tim Bailey, so I honestly feel im pretty squared away @ this point, BUT these EFR turbos do seem to be very special.

IMO if you haven't bought your turbo yet get the EFR. If you already have an ATP with the Mazda fail flange, get a T3 manifold and run EWG, and a real t3 turbine housing. The mazda flange is the real issue, and even if the new ATP stuff doesn't creep your leaving power on the table with the tiny AR and small flange cross section..

| Not Ranked : 0 score Each thier own man. Tim has tuned couple ewg atp setups and thier able to run different psi maps, below 20 yes. Anthony's iwg setup was tuned by Tim and hes running all sorts of maps. Shit go to Cobb tuning database, and look at his solid boost curve @ 13 psi lol. In terms of making more power with say t3 hotside, you are correct. I dont disagree with you on that. The mazda flange is not as good as t3/t4 ect. No argument from me. I look at this way though, I got screamin deal on the 3071 atp. I got almost all the parts ready to go. I look @ Brian making 380+whp with 3076,Joel making 400+ with 3076,Anthony making well over 350 3071....All atp turbos...and I ask myself..How much power do I really need on my FWD ms3???, where the power going to go?? Shit I have enough time getting street traction with 300 whp. I want a turbo that gives me cooler temps than my ko4, gives me more power per psi than my ko4. I think a honest 350-370 whp is plenty for my daily driver ms3...I really do. Ive saved alot of money through some sweet deals too, cant bitch one bit. I think what I have + a very good tune will net me the results I am looking for. As for other people, walk your own path and do what you want, and if your happy at the end, thats what matters. Iam looking forward to further input regarding the efr turbos, and hope to see some positive things regarding our platform soon. Anyways back to topic, Here is simply another option for atp turbo owners. Thats it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I agree with you about power levels for DD. 350 - 370 is definitely a sweet spot. Guys running in the 400+ range always say that you get going too fast on most streets. I'm personally gonna run a T3 2871r @ 25psi and see what it does. I'll definitely be spinning lots of tire with that and I'll be happy. The EWG ATP hot side is definitely interesting...someone should bite the bullet and try it!

| Not Ranked : 0 score Very cool of atp. But it needs a wg and dump tube for those that dont have the resources to do it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score This is some awesome stuff. I'm glad to see ATP responded to the complaints and finally fixed their issues. All the future BT guys will be benifiting from these options alot.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Got underneathe my ms3 tonight, took off my hotside from my 3071 and just played around to see fitment issues. It looks like it would slightly run into the stock oil return line. My atp turbo comes ofcourse with flexible ss braided oil return, and I bent it to where it would be when my 3071 is on, and should be good to go. Looks like from there, a simple L-shaped dumptube would fit. If you "aim" the wg towards the passenger side of the car *makes most sence when I was underneath*......you have about 4 inches to create a bend on your elbow on the dumptube. Then it would ofcourse shoot straight towards the ground. If you plan to re-route back into downpipe, it would be pretty much a straight shot before the cat *if it applies* Ofcourse nothing is written in stone, Im going to get more information from atp regarding this, but It does look promising.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score guys help me understand this reply from ATP, so the AR is then not 0.55 on the old set up it was 0.72 yet this will flow better because of the EWG set up?? As pictured here, the housing is flanged for the new MVS gate: Externally Wastgated Turbine Housing for Mazdspeed 3/6/CX7 - GT3071R/GT3076R : atpturbo.com MVS = 38mm MVR = 44mm A/R is .72 so it's the same, but with the EWG, the VE of the engine will be better due to better breathing so more power than the internally gated configuration. | Not Ranked : 0 score Well something isnt right...the ar of the atp series mazdaspeed specific turbos are .50 ar iirc....maybe 55 at the most. Iam also contacting atp and will do my best to get to the bottom of things. Regardless, I did alittle research on this and the Subaru guys have said nothing but good things about the ewg housings. *sidenote* After looking at the pics of the ewg housing, the area of the exhaust inlet does not look any bigger than my 3071 atp turbo. And in terms of distance from where the center of the turbine wheel would be to center of exhaust inlet, it looks about the same, I highly doubt the ar is different, BUT I could be wrong.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hi David, Thanks for the inquiry and sorry for the late reply. The ext WG housing is essentially the same housing but with some mods done at casting. The A/R is the same, but the external wastegate port is significantly larger than the internal wastegate port on the internally gated housing. If you already own a V44 (larger MVR size flange) and you want to be able to bolt up to the MVS flange we put on the new housing, we could make you an adapter to step from one size to the other but you would end up with two v-band clamps on that one joint. This is my response from ATP turbo. I also asked him how I could run a 44mm mv-r on the mvs=38mm flange. So anyways, yes A/R is the same size. Hope this helps.
