Greddy EBC solenoid is dead. Going to try and pick up a mbc tomorrow and drop the car off. Even if he starts tuning it again tomorrow I doubt it'll be finished b/c tuning with the AP is pretty time intensive. I'll wait until I see the end results of the tuning but I'm expecting good results.

That's the second greddy profec b spec II that I've owned where the boost control solenoid died. Its a bad ass EBC when it works but the boost control solenoids have a reputation for failing.

My progress so far:

IC disconected
Intake removed
Inlet removed
EBC removed
Top heat sheild removed
Turbo studs removed
DP disconnected
3/10 manifold nuts removed

Things left to do:

Finish removing manifold
Drain oil and change filter
Disconnect oil/water lines
Remove stock turbo
Replace alternator and 'big-3' wires
Install new oil/water lines
Install new turbo w/open element filter
Reconnect DP
Test fit new manifold for fitment/clearence (once received)
Ceramic coat the manifold
Install manifold
Wire up EGT gauge
Install breather filter on valve cover
Install EWG
Reconnect IC
Refill oil
Go get dump pipe made
Wash car
Claybar & wax

I'll give an update on my ride. I have built motor and pnp head. My welder ordered the piping last week for ewg setup. Once that is done I can put the 3071 on and start tuning for 400+hp. I'm running the car now with stock turbo and it is screaming for mercy. Spiking to 20 psi on stock tune.

The day has finally come. I've just received images of my kit, the one off the shop car, and will begin its transit over to the lovely state of Arizona tomorrow morning on a Fedex truck. I HOPE to see it by the weekend, as Fedex delivers on Saturday, but I won't hold my breath.

I chose to take it, and got a lot of money back. its better than waiting for god knows how much longer for the production kit, and I know the shit fits. Since the latest mid march date can no longer be met, i threw in the towel on it.

You seem like a cool guy so I wish you luck on it. I wouldn't expect anything wonderful off of a shop car though.

I am by no means hanging on RR's nuts like many think, nor have I been this whole time. I simply want to share my experience with them, which has for the most part been positive, and for those who are on the edge to keep all the options open.

Although I've had a good experience, the situation is obviously not ideal. I will not share any of the pictures until I have the kit in my hand, but I can genuinely say that the kit looks great. There are a few things that still need to be worked out with Brice, but I am pleased to be on the home stretch, I just want everything to be over.

For those thinking that I'm getting bent over and fucked by getting the used kit, I am not. The price at which I'm purchasing it is more than fair, and the difference of money was back into my bank account within a day. Those who speak of RR as if they're sipping margaritas down on the beach in Mexico, are those who have never once spoken to them. Would I make the same choices as they have thus far? Hell no. But, its not my company.

Anyways, everything is on a fedex truck and en route. Fingers are crossed that it will reach me on Saturday

They did some more tuning on the car today, things went by alot faster and the car would be done except for an unforseen error on my part. My tial 44mm ewg has a small blue spring and can only hold 14lbs. of boost with the mbc. My tuner said I need to run a large yellow with the small blue. The first tuning session i had on monday he was working on tuning out the KR i was seeing. Today, he continued doing that and on the first run @ 12 psi the car dynoed 279whp but it was runnning lean and hit boost cut. He added some fuel and adjusted the boost cut and the car made 288 whp @ 12 psi, afr at the sniffer @ the end of the exhaust was 12.11.12.20. KR was at 0 so he decided to up the boost on the MBC. First, run with the mbc turned up, boost spike ups to 20psi immediately and he lets off so the mbc can be turned down. Looking at the dyno graph from that run, 20+ psi is in the turbo's efficiency range b/c there was a dramatic shift of the graph to the left and the slope of the graph was very steep. He dials down the mbc, boost ends up holding 14psi @ the next run and the car made 308whp. He told me to he'd try to finish tuning the car later this week after I get another wastegate spring, but he said the car should definetly make 400. The highest KR i see now is .35 and my afr's are in the low 11's @ WOT. My car is being tuned by Huy Tran (inline racing).

My progress as of now:

stock manifold removed
stock alternator removed
stock turbo removed
greddy e-01 removed
stock oil lines removed
began test fitting turbo
broke my finger

Things still to do:

modify new/old oil drain lines
find missing water line
place all new oil/water lines
mount new turbo
install iragge alternator
run all 'big-5' wires per iragge's instructions
install fresh serpentine belt
recharge and install battery
test fit ptp manifold when received
wire egt gauge and sensor
ceramic coat ptp manifold
install ptp manifold with ewg
construct dump pipe for ewg

haha, I was trying to break loose the bolt holding the turbo to the bracket undernieth it, and when it finally went, so did my fist right into a bulge in the firewall. It's not really broken I don't think, but more my knuckle is all fucked up, swollen, and throbbing.

Well it will be awhile before my Turbo setup gets installed and running since the motor is STILL blown. Still on the fence somewhat concerning whether to build the block I got or buy a running low mileage motor and keep that one stock. But I am now leaning towards building this block as I really want to see what my setup will make as no one else has run this yet.

Exh mani : custom one off T3 top mount Ceramic coated

Turbo : Turbonetics T3/T4 hybrid 50 trim with a .63 A/R hot side ceramic coated

BCS : Perrin ECBS

EWG : Tial 38mm w/ 14 lb. spring.

DP : Custom one off ceramic coated down to the flex joint

Screamer pipe is a custom one off that is also ceramic coated and is VTA

I was gonna sell my stuff (and still may) but was only interested selling it all together and not piece meal as I wanted to see what it would do. But since I mocked it up on my motor thats on my engine stand the damn thing is just to damn sexy looking and I know I'd be kicking myself if it put up good numbers. So what the hell is another $5 K when you consider what I've got in the car already right???

Still left to do....pretty much everything lol. This weekend im going to try and at least get the PTP internals installed if that goes well i will be taking the mani/dp/turbo off and mocking up the holset onto the medival mani to figure out what position im going to have to weld the new t3 flange on, if it goes well i might even have time to chop off the stock flange and tack up the t3 so i can bring it to someone who knows what they are doing with a welder lol.

meh, I'll be alright, lol. The worst part is having to type at work. Plenty of herbal suppliments should keep the pain at bay til it's healed. Every one of my fingers had been broke at least once before I was even in highschool. Gotta love little-league football!

Drove over some incomplete construction on a pothole, couldn't change lanes and did some nice damage to my fmic. On a good note, I installed a (large green & small yellow) ewg springs along with the stock boost control solenoid. I would recommend using the stock solenoid over a mbc b/c it has eliminated the boost spike i was seeing from running a larger wastegate and is consistent.
