Cool I hope you are able to make more power then taf did with his FP k04. Iirc he only made something like 345whp

just found out something interesting when talking to turbo lab. i've been asking them alot about what they can do for the turbine wheel since that seems to be our major restriction. Even with the bigger compressor wheel and a clipped turbine wheel we are still limited. They just told me that they can get a 9 blade turbine wheel that will flow more but they would have to place a bulk order and it would take them a while to get it.

I'm sure were still limited to a certain point. I dont see why we could push a lil more power with the wheel. If that's so, I could try and get a exhaust side wheel down the road too.

The exhaust side is the main issue with the K04. @Tomas; might know the back pressure calculations.

Yea I know you will still make more power with the upgraded wheel but I would be pleasantly surprised to see you break 350whp. I've been reading up a lot on reworked k04's lately and the power people have made with them. The more and more I read the more it makes me just want to save for a bnr

Have you considered running 50.50 or even less?

You dont think it wont handle it with the bigger wheel? I ran 100% e @ 24lbs last yr ((obv without the wheel upgrade and ewg, idk what my IDC was at tho))...... I rly didnt want to mix 50/50. But i can if u dont think ill have enough fuel for at least another ~15whp.........I have seen bnr on 50/50 i think without a problem, idk if my wheel upgrade will flow as much as a bnr (unless they were spraying meth too?)



@phate; Do you kno by chance what my IDC was at on the dyno? I wiped computer out and dont have any of the files from when i ran 100% e before





EDIT: I can run a 50/50 mix (6/6), no big deal.

i know just running a 4 gallon mix holding 18psi up top w/ 75* weather i was @ 80% IDC. i would think running 100% e-85 would be hard without extra fueling. not to mention playing the guessing game with the sticking spill valve.

haha mixing is easy. what i did was just put the same amout of gas/e in every time. i got tired of mixing though and bought a aquamist meth kit lol

hahah, i could pick up a meth kit and run....But with all the stories of the meth turning on at idle and going zzb, i stayed away lol.


Id rather just run 50/50.....I think there was like only a ~10whp difference between 50/50 and 100% E when clint tuned mine and few others on dyno for comparsion

they are basic kits they have no way of letting you know if something goes wrong thats why they are cheap. i bought an aquamist kit for the fittings/failsafes. @rfinkle2; told me when i was first looking at meth kit's to be prepared to replace those standard pushlock fittings because they leak. The sticker shock might be a little much when you look at the aquamist kit's but their is no comparison between them and the cheaper devils own,snow,and coolingmist kits.

with a 20% discount, my DO kit with all steel braided lines and fittings was just over 500. not only do push locks leak, i've actually had them blow out before.

yea for 200 more you could have a aquamist hfs-3v3 kit that is miles better then any devils own kit.

Umm, not looking to spend that much at this moment tho......... I would run both meth and 100% E if i could or if it would benefit me a lot.

Unless @rfrinkle2; recommends meth too? haha..... But idk if ill get a much gain running Meth and 100% E on this turbo, besides keeping my BATS down and stuff.



What are the best parts i would need to get so the meth doesnt come on at idle or mess up?

the whole reason i'm installing a meth kit is to not have to run e-85 anymore. that stuff got to be a hassle after a while lol

Ahh i see.

Well i have a 11:1 CR bottom end.....So i need to run at least 85 or racegas. I dont think motor will like 93 much.

Running meth id cool bats and be able to run 100% E.....But probably wont see much gains running both for another $500-$700 dollars more on an already limited turbo

Hahaha.....Its all good! I dont daily my car at all either, so 100% E wouldnt bother me.


Probably just run 50/50 for now i guess...... Meth would be cool, just for cooling effects in summer and run 100% E. ((Which is over and already in 50 degree weather now))

My cobb fmic does wonders.....Bascially the best fmic. Especailly on dyno, clint said the bat's were steady across the board the whole time.

get a 6th port, You may not need the second in tank fuel pump for sub 400 whp even with 100% E85, and the cost is about the same as a badass meth kit, but (i feel) more "reliable." Or at least more reliable in terms of accurately measuring how much is being injected.

There are so many options... Methanol is fuel on a budget. The 6th port kit is a much more reliable way of injecting extra fuel, imo, but definitely more expensive.

I think the best idea for your situation is to try to get a reasonably priced meth kit with an braided lines.

A failsafe can be purchased with 90% of these kits as well.

We'll do our best to use the stock injectors as much as possible in the event (unlikely event) that your meth kit fails.

I feel like I should go 5/6th port before even going meth, especially if I plan to keep pushing more power....... Idk what to do.


Rob, help me out haha. if im gonna be fuel cutting on a 50/50 mix, might as well pick either or kits for extra fuel.

if you're going to be mixing fuel anyways just go to a 25% blend. I ran both my big turbos on 25% E85 and never had problems with knock. on a "380 whp" map, I went all the way down to 2 GALLONS of e85 per tank lol (remember gen 2 is 16 gallons) before I started seeing knock. Shits beats mode, use just as much as you need.

not exactly true. on large LARGE turbos that don't exactly have any bottom end to begin with, they are suffering from even further torque losses, get the bitch up over 5k though and its night and day. On a "small" turbo (what we'll call anything 30 frame or lower) where you can still pick the mid range up a bit, id say you're fine and can just tune around it.
