Yes, but his is and answered all of your questions.

Regardless of turbo, you're not getting over 400 without some sort of auxillary fueling.

I messaged him on facebook last night after the picture was posted. He wouldn't release any information to me. I told him I had to have it and I was looking at turbo upgrades for this upcoming season, also that I was running the S3 now. All he said was, he had to test it and there will be two 30-76 options. I'm thinking IWG and EWG, whatever it is. I want it and I want to know a price so I can start setting money aside.

Moving to this size turbo make sure you have some sort of extra fuelling lined up - WMI or 6th port. Should be less price wise than a GT3076 and not as tolerant to high boost like the GTX wheel but still a good option.

I had sent him another message about a week ago. Responded by saying they are awaiting dyno numbers, then 90 days to produce it. So I guess at least another 3 months

I think 3 months would be worth the wait. Then again, as long as my car has been down, three months is nothing lol. Im very curious what Justin will be able to get out of it, and what kind of overall price we will be looking at when its finished

I don't know...that's an option but my thinking is...would I rather have an S4 on little to no wastegate, or spin the balls off an S3?

I wouldnt want to max out a turbo. Sure the s3 is capable of 400 with the right setup, but why strain the hell out of it? its always nice to have room to grow as will. what kind of overall power goals are you looking for? stock or built block? aux fueling? etc etc

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'd rather have the S4 with room to grow than have the S3 spinning its head off.

Don't want to stray too far OT here, but to answer your question, I'm not looking currently to build my block or even upgrade my turboback/manifold. Nor am I looking to explore the limits of what the stock rods/pistons can do. I was originally planning on going with the S3 as a bolt-on power upgrade, with just an intake and the map sensor/EBCS, and see what I could get out of it with no aux fueling (93 pump gas). With the S4, depending on how big of a jump it is over the S3, I'd almost think I could easily get north of 300 whp on pump gas, with supporting mods (I'd probably need an intercooler and injector seals in addition to the EBCS/3 bar map mentioned earlier). The advantages would be low cost, and low probability of boost creep with both cats still in place. Hopefully this is the point where someone will intervene and tell me why my idea is crap. I am a noob after all and still have much to learn.

S3 on a genpu you can get pretty dam near 400whp with some meth injection, proper 3.5" intake and good TMIC. I believe the S4 is meant to take people more towards 500whp. Both turbos can bend stock rods just depends on how it is tuned and driven.

north of 300whp is no issue on an s3. 400 is about as high as you wan to go on a stock block. cats help with boost creep, but then again, so does switching to EWG, but thats another topic. Sounds like the s3 will be more than enough for you. I could be wrong, but I do believe the whole idea of the s4 is to give BT guys another option (instead of PTE or Garrett).

Really appreciate you guys's input. I am not sure what I want to do. I haven't even been in an MS3 with 300 whp, so I don't know if that's "enough" for me. All I know is that I would really like significantly more power than stock. Don't get me wrong, the MS3 is "fun", but to me it just doesn't have any balls in 3rd gear or above, and it's hard for me to imagine an extra 30% power (going from ~230 stock to 300) giving me the wow factor I want.

I know north of 300 is possible with the S3 on pump gas, but the fact that some people don't even get that far tells me that the S3 might be undersized for my purposes. Since 350 wtq can be handled by the stock internals, why not simply fit the turbo to the car that can put out those kinds of numbers to begin with? Rather than "pushing" the S3 to 300 whp, I can just make that with no sweat with the S4 and then have room for more power, which I will undoubtedly eventually want.

S3 on pump is easily able to generate 315-325 even on a Speed6. I'd be concerned about other mechanical issues if that's not happening, rather than blaming the turbo.

Nothing wrong with running an S4 or GT/GTX series turbo, just sayin...

Without any aux fueling depending on elevation you live at and pump gas octane rating and quality are the two main killers. If you live at 5000ft above sea level and have crappy 91 octane then yes 300 will be a chore. But iirc most S3 builds on here hit far above the 300whp mark be is speed3 or 6. You need to work out what all supporting mods you are will to do and have a slightly better idea of hp goal. If hp goal is less than 350whp the I believe the S3 would be a perfect fit. At that power pending other mods the turbo should not be maxing out (again pending elevation and gas). If you want to grow higher than that then wait for the S4 but get a very conservative tune and read up good driving habits so you don't zzb.

FWIW, Willow Grove PA is about 270 ft ASL- Looked up his location before offering my thoughts. That said, you're totally right tho- get up there far enough & it gets tough to generate power with the lack of O2...
