Default BNR Stage 2 to Stage 3 conversion

Hey guys,

I recently picked up a BNR Stage 2, used from a friend.

I want to convert it to the Stage 3 by having a 2871 compressor wheel fitted.
From what I have seen on the web, the Compressor Housing on my S2 is the same as the Stage 3, it is the Mitsubishi compressor housing from the 88 RX7 Series 4 (it has HT18S-2S on the housing).
I’m in South Africa so for the cost of shipping in a new S3 I may as well spend a bit more and get GT30. So i want to try get this one upgraded locally if possible.

What I need to know is, what is different between the S2 and S3?
Is it just the compressor wheel? Can I keep the CHRA and the turbine wheel?
If its just a wheel swap with a bit of CNC work to machine the housing to accept the larger wheel then I think that will be a nice option.

Lastly, do you guys think it would be possible to fit a GTX 2867 wheel in there?

The stage2 is a GT2860 so the compressor wheel will be smaller and the compressor housing will be smaller as well.

I believe the exhaust side is the same as a stage3. To upgrade you'd probably need the 2871 compressor wheel and the larger housing - not sure if the backing plates match.

Thanks Lex. If I can get it done locally for around $500, would you say the extra flow potential would be worth it? Bearing in mind I'm at 5500 ft in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Power goals are 330 whp on meth and e.

You could just sell it and get a stage 3 turbo. You might be able to find a buyer.

I was interested in messing with a stage 2 turbo myself.

^ Stage 3 turbo would mean sending a stock ko4 to the States, pay a whole lot more cash than I want to for a S3, then shipping the S3 back to South Africa and paying import duties and sales tax again. Would end up costing around $2000 with all the shipping and customs duties etc.

And as far as I know there are no BNR S3's for sale in South Africa, so i'm trying to get it reworked locally.
