Default GT37 build
So I've been working on a buddies build for the past 3yrs ('83 280zx) and we finally got everything buttoned up and running.




Got her out to the dyno a couple weeks ago and she out down 405WHP and 433TQ.


As a reward for sacrificing the past 3 years of my life, Johan gave my a GT3788VA.






It just fell off of the back of a truck! Imagine that!

The turbo has variable vanes controlled by a PWM signal. I called Garrett and spoke with a tech regarding the turbo. I'm going to send it in for a rebuild before I install it. I'm going to talk to Leen at steedspeed and get a mani made up. I'm thinking about running it on the stock block with my billet girdle to see what she can take.

Right now I'm just collecting parts. Snail won't be going in until this winter.

You never know. I might just trip on the welder and end up stitch welding the whole car adding a roll cage, convert it to AWD, and then some how end up on a rally course...

Theres a shop near(ish) to me that set up a new variable vane holset off a dodge in an sti with a standalone for the variable vane so it actually operated. Dunno how it ever turned out but its just some food for thought mr phantom

I'm going to use a programmable Arduino system with PWM out put and pressure sensor.
It's going to take a little tweaking but its doable.

She is indeed. I'm very curious to see how to Variable Vanes affect the spool. The Garrett tech said it should spool as fast as a GT35, maybe even a GT32 (But he was guessing). Either way it should be fun!

garrett makes the VNTs that vw has been using on TDI's since the late 90s, afaik. It'll spool a bit sooner than you'd think that monster should.
