Kid gave me garrett t3/t4

So this high school kid gave me a rebuilt garrett t3/t4 50 trim turbo, for his down payment on my 5.0 stang. It's twin scroll and will need an ew setup.This may be a dumb question, but why hasn't anyone tried running a t3/t4 yet? Is it just too small? The hotside is just 6 holes where you can put on a 3" vband or something. If not, I can just sell it

Probably because there are better options out there that don't cost as much in the long run to get running. You could get a bigger turbo that bolts right in for less $$ and headache than trying to make that turbo work. I would sell it and get a drop in turbo but since it was free, it may end up coming out pretty even price wise in the end, however it will be nowhere near as easy.

You will need ex mani ($700 for steed speed or $$$ for custom), you will need custom downpipe, and you will need custom intake and oil/coolant lines. It can be done, its just not the simple solution...

Sell it and go bolt-on. I ran a Precision and a 50 trim (same turbo you have) and it was a big hassle. Those turbos make the oil drain routing harder and they also put the intake/TIP in an annoying spot. Get a bolt-on ATP gt3076/71 and make your life easy.

Lol, I pretty much did. He was like, "well if i can sell the turbo than I can get you a dp." I was like fine, gimme the damn thing. How much do you guys suppose that thing is worth?

Not to be repeating the same thing but is it possible to give it back to the kid and demand cash? There is no hassle for you to sell the thing and if it's blown then you don't have to worry about someone coming back for you. Also, you might want to reconsider selling your car to a kid who cane even afford a down payment lol what's going to happen to he whole car payment?

He says his buddy rebuilt it for him. Yeah I don't know if part of the hotside is missing or what. He's selling his truck and giving me the $ from that and then the turbo and some other shit

his buddy rebuilt? meaning it's not balanced. Compressor looks small, turbine side looks huge. ex-diesel turbo?

Get rid of it. It's worth maybe $250.

il buy it from you lol. looks like a diesel turbo, dp flange is also tricky. but it WILL make power no doubt about it. may want to rebalance the wheels, always good preventive maintenance
