if you plan on running the gt40r, you should look into the high rpm big turbo build thread so you can maximize the potential on that huge turbo by revving at least to 7.5k rpm

Move battery and do custom sidemount turbo manifold. Revving high is gonna be your main problem.

Ha I don't think a Ms3 with that turbo would make near the same power or move out as fast as that evo.

OP it's not worth it. Remember you want something that spools fast since you don't have alot of rpm to play with. Go smaller and have a more useful power band.

Also whats the price that will tell you if it's a knock off or not. My boy just picked up a new one for 1250 so if that used going for 800 yeah sure. 600 maybe, 350 its garbage.

Im revn to 7500-7600rpm. so far this is what i know- U will need to balance ur bottom end with forged internals. You will need valve retainers, valve springs ( have a look at supertech kits). DCR VVT for the heavier valve springs, standard ones will break.

I would suggest oversize pistons at least 40 thou(1mm) this will help with your spool time down low and bottom end torque. Look at a Manifold with shortest length piping for earlier spool times.

DOOOEETTT get it

I agree with darky...the ms3 is not a evo...we just dont have that powerband...KUDOS and huge props to guys like Wilksy who want to see what it takes to open up the rev range on this car, that gets my full respect.

I dont know what your budget is, or your ultimate goal for this car, but if your trying to keep it fairly real, go with a turbo that will work within this cars powerband.....trying to do other-wise might lead into ALOT of future headaches, time and alot of money...This car is already imo one of the hardest cars to mod for big power to begin with, nevermind trying to go above and beyond and start experiementing which who knows where it will go. I leave that for tuner companies who have the experience and money and time for huge projects like that, not your common day man.

Just my 2cents....Goodluck with whatever you choose

ok...this thing is a beast went and picked it up today drove 3 and a half hours to pick this bad boy up...took some pics while i took my kids to the park...that cup that i use for comparision is 32 ounces...It's a T4 Twinscroll and the v-band on the hotside is 3 3/4 inner diameter...this was a brand new turbo for less then half the price of retail found on craigslist (some what locally)...

I want a sidemount manifold like this if it doesn't fit between the block and the firewall

That turbo is a decent turbo. The turbo only has a 58mm inducer, so it is not that large. The exhaust is 77mm. Flows about 55lbs/min. Anything after about 26lbs is just hot air. Should be a good 450-500WHP at 20psi turbo for you.

You're gonna have a really really tough time fitting it behind the motor. I vote side mount. Good luck spooling it, man...

I love how it says "Displacement: 3.5L - 5.0L"....lulz...

I really think you should include beefier valve guides, valve seats, valve springs, and DCR VVT in your build. Run 7500rpm and the car will actually have some semblance of a power band (without nitrous).

There is a thread in the BT section called "Big turbo and high RPM" I believe. The guy is from Australia, but he managed to get better valve train components. The DCR VVT is readily available and is the first step in revving high. Get in touch with that guy on total cost of the head parts.

I am sponsored by them for my Outlaw car (Honda). I was asking them about the parts they have for the 2.3L Duratec motor, and they told me just wait, the MZR stuff is coming.
