Default Let's see what we can Break!

Alright, so my journey with this car has been soooo up and down. Especially recently, where I essentially lost my job and found a new one all in the same week...All this being after making some very large payments(BT, New Apt Deposit, Paying off some loans)

But I'm here and I'm queer as fuck...........for spool.

At the moment I've got a Boss Mode electrical problem that I'm dealing with, but once that is buttoned up, the real fun will commence.

Gremlin Damage Path:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went the department store turbo route, here is my GTX3071 w/ EWG Hotside setup(courtesy of the most excellent EdgeAutoSports):

Christmas in September:

3.5" of Fury Intake, with 38mm Tial and Dump tube:

Oil/Coolant Fittings, Hallman Pro MBC(will be ECBS in the future, just keeping it simple to start) and other miscellaneous necessities:

A big giant thanks to everyone who has helped me get thus far, from the spoon-feeding to the time spent on the phone walking me through the mundane steps...it's all appreciated and will not be forgotten.

Until I get my issues sorted(close), you're going to have to chew on this for a while. I do plan on performing a full write-up of the install. I am also waiting on a few more key items and then we're off!

Thanks for looking

So this happened yesterday and there will be much more to come, but for the moment- all I can say is fuck Garret, they will be getting a super pissed off phone call come Monday...Let's just say this "drop-in" turbo..was not exactly "drop-in" if I were to name it more accurately I would call it the "here's all this hardware you cannot use and nothing will line up turbo"

But it works great...

This is on a Base safe map, yes AFR's are wild, yes there's much more to be had(duh) but it's a start and I am very please currently.

I will be contacting Edge to sort the matters through them. I know ATP assembles the Garrett snails..regardless, someone dropped the fucking ball and what I listed isn't even half of went wrong with this order.

Short list:

Upon first receiving the turbo it came with the wrong hotside completely, then followed with getting missing hardware, then the wrong hardware...this was an already month and a half process. Followed by none of the coolant(return and feed) fittings/hoses working whatsoever to mate up with the existing setup. The turbo was never clocked properly, exhaust housing was flipped upside down..no big deal but on top of everything. Lastly, the 38mm Wastegate I received came with a mis-matched set of springs.

And I'm probably forgetting other things in my rage..

Long story short, this was not a "drop-in" kit by any means.

Hahah "work" ended up being a 20 minute service call..but holy shit I would have been so fucked if I came out there. I started a little before 10 am and finished almost at midnight.

2 hours were sunk into finding a gripper socket as one of the four studs that mated the turbo to the EX.Mani were fubared..

So, yes, have your fun and poke me with your stick.

Long story short, this was not a "drop-in" kit by any means.
Just sloppy!

Ya, well the "drop-in" part in the turbo kit description had me overly confident. I'd be just waking up in your tractor bucket, wiping the alcohol from my lips if I had come out..hahaha

Atleast it's over! Do you plan to drop in rods and pistons at some point? I'd hope so.

Depends, are you paying for them?

I got a wildcard in my back pocket with a free block..so I'm not so concerned.

Yup my mbc is completely unwound as I was testing the WG springs initially. I'm about to doing some runs after I give it a couple turns.

I would use some type of cutting wheel (dremel works perfect)..hack saw will cause too much fraying and it will be a bitch to get the compression fitting back on.

Word, I've got a nice dremel I can borrow tomorrow. So what is the goal here? Making the line completely straight with out any bend, more so tought?

In regards to the oil return, is any modification needed there? The ATP kits supplies a 90 fitting that ties back into the block.

Pictures to follow tomorrow.

Yes, a slitting saw is a better idea.

Its not the feed line, that is used unmodified with a new banjo bolt. Its the oil return/drain that needs to be shortened. Nice smooth transition with no large bends.

Yep...mine was too long and kinked....had to cut off almost 2" off the oil drain.

I'm curious though, were you supplied with a 90 fitting where it feeds the block? It makes the tubes path much wider but there is more of a bend rather than a kink.

I just ended up using high temp push lock fittings hose. Didn't wanna fuck with the braided steel. Time will tell how it holds up bit its been about 3mo so far without issue.
