MSP611's big motor/turbo build

So I'm starting a thread to get questions answered and post my interest in wat I wanna run. Here's the motor and turbo set up I wanna run. (motor has 65,xxx on it should I rebuild only goin for about 400AWHP AND 400AWFTLBS.)
-Same block I have now
-pauter rods(dunno if I should get upgraded pistons open for suggestions kinda dont wanna fuck with raising/lowering compression)
-Garrett T3/60-1 with Stage III turbine wheel and 60-1 compressor wheel with .78 A/R t3 divided housing.
-steedspeed top mount exh. Mani(still in the works)
-DJ's top mount kit with DP
-Cosmedic head gasket
-tial 38mm EWG
-have valves adjusted And head looked at for any problems.
-OEM gasket kit
-all OEM bearings
-cobb AP
-altered customs FMIC KIT
-ARP main block studs and head studs
any other suggestions or parts I might need? I know I will run into lil stuff along the way. This will also be built by me and will be my first motor build on a car. ( i am jet engine mechanic is y I say this)

Why not do pistons,rings if you're already taking the motor apart, you could get stock compression.

Make sure you delete the balance shaft; F2 has a BSD kit. Also, might as well lower the compression a little compared to stock so the car will be less likely to knock. Also, since your car has a decent amount of miles a .20 over on the pistons wouldnt be a bad idea.

So buying .20over pistons and would i need block to be milled? Any suggestions on pistons then like cp, Carrillo?? Over are u jst talkin milling the pistons? O ^ya balance BSD shoulda been on there duh and step colder plugs.

go wiseco pistons. if you go .20 it will need to be bored.

have you looked at K1 rods? very affordable and more than capable of doing what you want and is a nice rod. cp-e actually uses this rod/piston set up on their motors.

^ya thx spiker^^ and haven't looked at k1 rods. Where can u find them? And what's the running price? Y wiseco pistons? I've always ran those pistons in my dirt bikes but nvr really heard anything about them with cars

Wiseco pistons has been around for like 70 years making the best pistons money can buy. They're the only pistons I've ever run in my race bikes and I wouldn't think any less of their excellent quality would carry over to the automotive market

cp-e sells the K1 rods as does protege garage.

both at the same price. this rod/piston combo is actually what i will be using also with my high HP target build.

and as long as wiseco has been around and quality of their products, cants go wrong. esp for the price.

If you have your block bored out to make sure you have perfectly round cylinders, .20" is a very common amount to have taken out so you have to get .20 pistons to match. Increases your displacement a tiny tiny bit as well . 2.35L!!!111!!

I don't think there's any reason to pick up a new block. Unless you ejected a rod or just want to have a spare one laying around...
Do the blocks from SU come as an assembled short block? If so, it'd save you a bunch of time from having to do it yourself.

su seems to only sells the stock short-block assembled. If you choose the "build-a-block" option it will be sent unassembled.

Alright guys huge update. i will.no longer be going BT at this time, instead i will be going for more of an all around car. I still plan on going BT down the line, but this is when im ready to rebuild. For now im going to be doing precautionary mods and a PG reworked. Im doing this for the tuning exp and to have more time with the car, so when i do go BT i know what im doin. Here are some pics of wat I've got in the mail so far
Still waiting on: PG reworked turbo, fuel pump internals, BSD kit and oil pan baffle, AWR front and rear adjustable endlinks, GT spec trailing braces, Autoexe rear floor brace, Perrin EBCS, Matt damond OCC... I think thts it??

+1 If you plan on going BT eventually, don't waste your money on anything less IMHO. I'd put that money toward a nice, (Soon to be released hush hush) Exhaust manifold and FMIC kit.

I got a steal on the PG reworked thts y im going with it. If i wanted to go BNR i would of just gone BT and or a gt 2871. Don't get me wrong BNRs r great but i couldn't pick one up for wat i got the reworked for

Alright guys so i finally began working on the car after i got back from the desert. i have acquired some more tools, but am still waiting on my other tool set to come in the mail.

The first picture is all the parts im installing on this build. Im still missing my Autotech fuel pump internals and my Perrin ECBS. I also still need to order a catch can (@MATT DAMOND).

The rest of these pictures are wat i got done today in about a 2-3 hour solid working time in between all the other shit i got done today. Pretty much have the DP (o2 sensors were pretty easy with a lot of a PB blaster look alike) out, TP is off, just need to loosen the bracket. Exh. mani is close to out just have to get one more nut. Turbo needs all wastegate connections taken off, coolant line removed etc etc... Drinking some Belgian blonde Hoegaarden's on the side.

Got a lot of work to do. Im going to finish the motor, then do the suspension stuff on a lift on base just to mae it easy. The SPC ball joints are gunna be a bitch.

Hopefully the weather stays good becuz im up on the PERM tune list and @Lex he wants to work with me ASAP so i need to get these hard parts installed. Hopefully these fuel pump internals show up soon.

Other then that i hope i finish here soon to get to tuning. Gunna be a good learning exp.

Hey Guys Wats up,


First off, prior to this i was on a 5 or 6 day party binge, because i had the last 1.5 weeks off so it took me awhile to sober up and get to work ....

Me and a buddy were attempting to take off my DP, Exh. Mani and Turbo / intake system

So me and a buddy named Dick Started to pull of my Exh. mani and into a few tight pinches...

First real problem Was getting the bottom drivers side stud on the Exh. mani. The stud is recess in the mani and there is little room between the coolant feed line and the stud itself. I could get the 14mm wrench on there but i couldn't get the pressure and grip to break the nut. My friend had the bright idea to prevent slippage and to put one of the Exh. mani nuts on the stud to keep the wrench from slipping. I tightened it on down to the wrench finger tight and it helped you not have to apply inward pressure on the wrench to keep it on the nut. Since the nuts were previously sprayed with Break free... i gave one full pull and broke the last on the hard nuts (no homo)....

After that the DP slid out quite easily and could be maneuvered to your specific liking.

Only real pain on turbo pull was oil feed line..... Those two small 8mm bolts that hold it on are in an odd spot and you just have to do it blind.... (actually was quite used to it because on jets most things you work on with out sight) just didn't it expect it like that on the turbo.


I've attached some pics of the build and where it sits. The minimalistic tool selection i have, because of USPS system. Pics of the garage and the progress for the accumulative work of maybe 12hrs in 2 days with beer drinking and Hookah sessions in-between.

Next weekend is fuel pump pull and internals install, then intake manifold removal and injector seal change. TB coolant bypass mod(SURE TB gasket as well) and SURE intake manifold gasket as well. EGR delete and if it shows up in the mail, my BSD kit and oil pan baffle install.

Damn wish i would have seen this thread earlier. This trick by DJ made working with the DP and any parts back there incredibly easy.

How to: Free up room for turbo work

takes like 5 minutes to take that shroud off and gives your at least 3 inches more room across the whole firewall. I pulled the DP through the top without removing anything else.

I'm currently in the dessert but when I return state side I'll be looking to go BT. I have a Hypertec controller I'll be selling and I will be be in the market for a COBB AP. Also ditching my TMIC. Also a 3076r and fuel pump are on my grocery list. My plan is to take it slow and do the installs little by little so if my cars starts acting funky I'll have an easier time diagnossing the problem. Would be great to hook up with a "Perm" specialist too.

@LilVic ya i didnt think about wrapping it but thts a good idea.... wrap it then get it some ceramic coating... its lame because i dont wanna put tht lame ass stock Exh. mani back in for all the work it took to get off, but i dont wanna spend the money on another mani when im going BT after this setup anyways.

alright guys got some more done today...

i first read the how to injector and intake manifold removal probably 3 times making sure i understood every aspect prior to jumping on this task.

1. removed TB
2. removed intake mani.
3. looked at all the nasty buildup on my intake valves... (guess im doing the how to clean your intake valves next lol)
4. gawked at all my new tools i got in the mail lol


Heres some pics of what all i got done (not much only really worked for about 1.5hrs so i feel pretty accomplished. ) and one extra pic of an f100-129b turbofan engine with a goofy ass co-worker lol...

That hose going from the PCV valve to the intake mani. was the only hiccup i ran into.... had a good time figuring out how to loosen the clamps and pull the hose off, but figured it out.
