Need some ideas

well Im going to have to figure something out. The car is running with a normal size maf, but not with the xcelXL... Ive done everything I can on my end, and I believe Josh when he says it was flashed.

Ive asked a couple of other people with the XL maf and flash.... they all say their car started right up...

Jake is there any way I could modify the settings on the SB to get it to run correctly?

input was about .85-1.05 output was around 2.30-2.80

This was after I modified the MAF table through the standback.

Yes I had the same issue even when the SB is not connected

That's like a 30% increase.

Not sure if you do or don't have the proper flash right now, but going from a stock maf size to a 3.25" maf housing is an increase of 70+%. I bet you'd still have a hard time starting the car (super lean) with just a 30% increase, but it certainly should have helped i would think.

Try stock maf again and see if it fixes it. However unlikely that the maf flash could have been over looked, i guess it's still technically a possibility.

At least i thought i remember OP put on a stock maf and everything looked normal, correct afr's, engine idled, etc.

this is almost the same story as silverdemon - what's up with the flashes not happening/not taking on the ecu???
silverdemon went thru the same thing with the new big maf/flash but his worked on the smaller stock housing....
is there any potential that the different year's ecu's initial programs vary just a little and are causing issues with flashes not taking???

The way our flashes work is we record your ecu so we can always revert back. We check three boxes when we do all three and we write. Then we record your post flash. Everything is tracked by vin.

There are a few options going on -
1. His ecu wouldn't take the flash for some reason which we've seen like twice in the 3-4 years we've been flashing (both ms6's)
2. Something was letting in A LOT of unmetered air or out A LOT of metered air. Not sure if he tried a stock maf housing after we sent it back again.
3. It didn't get flashed again (highly unlikely but always a possibility)

We have never had problems however with our flashes beyond it not getting put on or overlooked (2-3 times in its history) and then we just relash it and it fires up correctly right away. There is no variability - we write the same flashes to the ecu's. If its written it works which is why so many people are fired up and working. If it doesn't work you can't scale a smaller maf to this size to get it to work as we are getting it to work. We are HARD encoding things into the ecu's. I haven't had time to talk to 7mileshome as I have been out of town but he'll be supported whatever the situation.

7mileshome - i need you to pm me your vin number so i can check what your ecu flash looks like on our computer. We'll know what was done with that vin number because we have your before and after images of your ecu. We have every person's before and after image that we have ever done. It sounds like there were compounding factors that led to the car not idling right or staying on with the big maf. If you try to put it on a stock car it wont stay on because not enough air is registered so the car will die out.

I am currently in another state still at the air port waiting for my flight. When I get back in town I will finish investigating why 7mileshome's car wouldn't run the big maf. We have 20+ cars running it with no issues. We even have two still on k04's who wanted to try it (the rest are big turbo).

Dizzin - you may be a supporter of us but you are sitting here trying to stir the pot. Our flash is identical on every car it gets on. If it gets over looked we get it back and reflash it and it works. If it didnt - there was something else playing a roll. We have over 1000 flashes out in the speed platform. We would greatly appreciate it if you either stayed out of the threads or stop trying to stir the pot. We take care of our customers even in situations where something else was the cause of a problem - which in this situation it 100% was because of the scaling that was performed by the OP. Regardless - we will be there for him to help him fix any issues. We have been here from day 1 and support this platform and the owners more than any other company out there.

I gave Josh my vin no over the phone before I sent it back again, does that mean
he checked it, and realized that it was not flashed the first time?

I want to believe this is the case, honestly think that the second time I sent it
that it was flashed. Regardless, how practical is it that I send my ECU back and forth? Each time I take a chance that it will be damaged, and I will have to buy a new one? There has to be a way for CP-E to check the flash before sending it back to the customer.

Which is exactly what happened when I tried to turn the car on in the video I posted.
I have a receipt when I purchased the full control flash that has my vin no on it, shouldn't CP-E already have it? You guys do keep receipts right?

Now, Jake, lets not get into the blame game. That is unprofessional. I sent several PMs asking you to help me get the car running, and the only responses I got were, what's your number, and were going to do a conference call. I send my number 2 or 3 times, never got one call. The "scaling" that was done because the car was not sending enough fuel to even get the car to start and idle. I thought you did not get those PMs about me trying to adjust settings on the SB, because I never got a response.

So I will ask you again, what parameters does the 3.25" MAF flash actually effect? I think every paying customer deserves to know this so they understand exactly what is being changed on their ECU. There is no other way to prove that it was actually done, OR that it was done, and the ECU did not take it.

Yes you are right on about that. Thats exactly why you cant just run any size maf housing with out adding fuel. I was able to get the car to idle just about normal by adding fuel through the standback. LOL, alot of fuel.

And until I can figure out what the flash was supposed to change, I will never know why the car would not just start up.

Is there a possibility there's an issue of interaction of flashes with some of the oldest and earliest versions of the full control flash ??
Both you and Silverdemon had the very first FCF right?
While I realize this is unrelated, I know SilverDem was told that he had to push the dsc button when you start the car in order to turn on the fcf. That is a difference , because I know that it makes not difference if I do anything with that button my abs throttle goes 84% when I floor it. My car was flashed just a month ago.
Could there be other differences? Could these differences not work together?
