Alright.. next up:

Have to powder coat the valve cover, VTA OCC and intake
Get with my neighbor who is a fab genius and get my DP flange swapped to a vband and then make a custom dump tube.

I'll be installing the manifold tomorrow sometime, I'll take some HD pictures tomorrow! Om nom nom

IT'S REAL!!!

I've been trying to knock the shit out of my credit card balance for this!

I realize I'm splitting hairs on a bald head right now, but is there a significant difference in runner lengths or are they fairly equal in length? (I mean like 8" long difference)

I know, I cannot believe I own it either hahaha. I will measure approximate lengths of the runners tomorrow when I'm playing around with it!

Alright, the longest runner is ~21inches, shortest is ~14inches... all I have to measure is a phone charger cord.. so those are approximate.

A few things to note:

First off, I will say they are great people. Dan is a really good guy and they do great work.

Things I have noticed:
1. On test fitment, it does not seem the turbo sits at stock location, seems to sit considerably lower. I will be installing it tomorrow to confirm.

2. (Not here to bash them) but if you want it ceramic coated, have someone else do it. they use a local shop and I am not pleased with the outcome. I can scratch the ceramic off with 0 to very little force. To me it seems to be a latex paint, and not ceramic like my full race was. They are recoating it for free. See pictures from brutal install below.

3. Installing isn't fun. You have to remove the exhaust studs from the head and then angle it in and almost force it. It will scratch on the head slightly.

Definitely not here to bash. I expect some flaws being the very first stock replacement twin scroll (non steedspeed) manifold. I'll report back after startup.

Iwg was cut off the turbo today. Dp will be complete tonight and dump tube sometime late this week. I don't think switching to vband is needed to not rub the alternator, but it sure comes close. But since I am vband now, I have miles (realitvily) of clearnecs. Pictures to come this weekend.

Sad day


A few issues...
1. An exhaust stud will not fit under runner 1

2. My gtx30 won't bolt up to the flange due to hitting the transmission... Definitely not a stock location replacement.

Kind of frustrating... I'll talk to them tomorrow and see what they say... But this manifold is 100% not usable with a gt30 turbo.

Small update:

I am gone on work for a few days. I've been talking with Dan (shop owner) via text as it is most convenient. He is going to swing by my place on Monday and check it out and then make a new manifold. Hopefully this one is quicker.

Some hope in the future...
Another small update:
Dan and CJ from boostjunkyz came out to my house to check it out. After seeing it definitely hits the transmission, they decided to try a few things. After nothing worked, we removed the mani and turbo and found that the ATP housing I have is taller by ~1inch or so over the MZR flange. Meaning that puts the turbo down lower and (most likely) making it hit the transmission. I'll send my hotside back to ATP (Dan is getting it media blasted for me) and pick up one from a local shop. The one I currently have is a .78ar twinscroll t3 with vband out, the one that is local is a .77ar twinscroll t3 with vband out. I'll go get the new housing sometime this week and have the manifold back from (re)powder coating by saturday. Hopefully, this will be more of a success.

UPDATE:

Turbo fits fine, intake will be a challenge. Turbo still does hit the tranny by a hair, so we're going to do a little fabricating.

We're going to add in a wedge between the turbo and the manifold. The wedge will basically be a block that is higher in the back (closes to the engine) and smaller in the front (perks of having a machinist as a neighbor). It won't be too big. But this will kick the turbo back just a hair, enough to clear the transmission and throw on the custom 4" ID intake. Scream pipe will have absolutely 0 fitment issues, its actually close to a straight piece of pipe shooting down next to the DP. It will only have a slight bend in it to clear the DP.

ETA for first startup - next weekend if all goes well.

Also installed an Eonon D5151, that thing is sweet. Quick tip if anyone has a gen juan with a Bose system in it - splice inputs 1-8 at the the harness adapter. The wires going to the adapter can be spliced into RCA cables then plugged into the connectors directly wired onto the Eonon. This eliminates the double amplification you get when using the Bose radio. A common issue with it is double amplification (once at the BOSE input then again at the Eonon) making a volume of 1 too loud. Splicing and connecting to RCA removes that!
Same concept as the guy did here, except he did a direct wire and cut the RCA inputs at the unit instead of adding RCAs to the wire like I did.

Since the car hasn't been moving I can't say. It also seemed a little out dated. But that's no problem. I wired the gps antenna into the headliner so its hidden. With it there and in my garage with the garage door closed, I was receiving 9-11 satellites with ease.

Small update.

Intake is done. Needs blasted and powder coated. But racecar working is importanter.

Turbos installed on the car
Intake fits
DP had to be remodified, should fit just fine.

Gotta resolder my EBCS and run ewg lines.

Downpipe finally fits.

Need to fix a small oil leak, get a new coupler for the hot pipe and modify the exhaust to fit the new angle of the DP.. Car started AND RAN!!

The top port of my EWG is VTA. For the EBCS 1 line to the turbo, one to the intake, one to a lower port on the EWG.

The fucker spools like a mad man. It's almost comical. I feel like I'm driving a toy and it makes fun noises by moving the throttle an 8th of an inch..

Four port doesnt play well with our ecu. Something about the phasing or frequency making it not better than a three port.

I would go 1.01. Twin scroll acts like a smaller housing because the divider takes up space. For example an .82at single scroll spoolsabout the same if not slower than a 1.06at twin scroll.hope this helps mate!

I run a 3 Port now.

It is true that the 20Hz frequency causes some un-responsive conditions by the 4 Port solenoid but I built a small circuit to convert the 20 Hz square wave signal to 31 Hz and all was well.

However, the whole idea of running a 4 Port is so that you can run a very low WG spring (Ex. 3psi, 5psi, 7psi, etc.) so that you can get as minimal boost as possible on spring pressure in the lower gears for traction purposes.

The only problem is that the EWG will open just trying to pass someone on the highway and it gets really annoying hearing the dump tube all the time and takes away from the street car/sleeper thing.

So I put a 17 PSI spring back in, threw R compound tires on and called it a day. Never been happier.

I only recommend 4 Port for dedicated track cars. Otherwise, there is absolutely no point.

It is not "better" than a 3 Port. It simply does something the 3 port cannot do and if you don't need that advantage, you are buying it for no reason other than you thought it was better.

Haven't had a chance since I'm not tuned yet. Took it all off this weekend to wrap the manifold with exhaust wrap. Start tuning this weekend hopefully.
