Default turbo upgrade question

Call me a noob, but is it possible to just do a turbo upgrade exgt3076) and run the stock boost, fuel pump, etc. I have intake, 3in dp to full 3 in exhaust and a cobb tune. Can I just purchse the turbo, and swap the k04?

can you explain the specifics as to why? It is because even at the same boost the larger turbo pushes more air?

dude, if these are the type of questions you are asking, you arent ready for a big turbo.
Learn about it, then decide if u wanna do it. dont just do it cause its a bigger turbo.

you didnt ask for specifics... i just answered your question. its never as simple as slapping on a turbo. boost is nothing... 15psi through a drink straw is not the same as 15psi through a firehose. stock fuel pump, especially when contemplating a turbo upgrade, is a big no no. the increased airflow/fuel demand will choke the stocker. its recommended you install new injector seals. then you need a FMIC (you better not be using the stock tmic). and dont use an OTS tune with a big turbo.. thats just asking to blow up.

Thanks bmorris. I am just a little new to boost and Mazdaspeed is all. I wanted reinforcement and elaboration i suppose. I see that I have a lot of reading to do as far as where I want to take this.

I see your sporting the one black, one chrome exhaust tip like myself too. lol.

Hey Frank there are a few stickies in this section that might help you. I did a lot of reading before I contemplated going BT.

The GT 30 series are more efficient in higher boost ranges maybe if your looking to stay stock boost levels but lose the smoking issues look at the BNR set-ups

I would also suggest with a DP and looking for more mods to Upgrade your CDFP before anything else

CAM DRIVEN FUEL PUMP. I would really suggest reading up on this platform and how it works. There is quite a lot to learn!

Doing this will also save you from being SHIT ON by some members of the board

you definitely need a fuel pump upgrade or just get the internals. its going to help alot from your car going zoomzoomboom. how to put those in and where to buy them are all over this forum.

I got a GT3071 sitting on my desk... everyday i think what is going to go wrong if i put that thing in there even with all the supported mods. Ive done a ton of research and im still researching before i put this thing in.

you shouldnt mod, you should start reading, then decide what you want to do with your car. There are so many setups you can go.
