Default Wisco's Forged Motor & GTX3076 Build

Well looks like I am going to be joining the built block and BT club. I did a compression test a few weeks ago and it indicated that I have a ringland failure. Anyways I decided if I have to rip apart the motor I might as well make it stronger in the process and go the forged + BT route. Right now I am finalizing my build list for the motor, as this will be a two step process. Build the motor within the next month or two and go BT after everything on the motor is broken in.

This is my first "performance" rebuild so if I am missing something important you should probably let me know. Here is what I have on the list so far..

Wiseco Pistons .020 over
Manley Rods
CPE Safe-Seals
ARP Head and Main studs
JBR BSD, I'll probably see if I can get the machine shop to just put a bolt in there for me.
MZR Rebuild kit from Edge W/ New oil pump, VVT, Timing chain

Most likely forgot something but whatever I'll remember it later. For the turbo I plan on doing a EWG GTX3076 kit from Edge as well. If I do have the funds I would much rather find a "better" setup T3 manifold, Twinscroll, ect.

It's about time I start doing some work.

From all of the people who are active in NATOR WI, no one has built a motor yet. I'm only as good as the information that I have received.

I really could care less if I'm the first one or not. I just wanna go fast!

Sweet! If you need help with it let me know, the drive down would be worth the knowledge learned. I can help hand over tools or document it, whatever you need.

I like your idea of breaking in the motor then putting on a BT; did you consider possibly putting everything on at once then just running a conservative tune for the break in period?

I did think about putting everything on at once but that just doesn't sit well with me. The last thing I would want is something to malfunction and that causing a multitude of things to blow up. That is a lot of new parts to install at once, I would much rather make sure that the engine is solid before I start throwing some actual boost at it.

Also I am a college student so my funds aren't exactly plentiful. The only way that I could really afford this is by buying/installing it in stages. It looks like I'll be living off Ramen for the next few months again. Woot!
