Default CorkSport FMIC with SRI

I am posting this up to gauge interest in a front mount intercooler kit that would have everything from the turbo to the throttle body. So the kit would basically be for someone that already has a short ram intake and doesn't want the ram air box kit that we sell for $899. The kit would be priced around the $699 mark and would be similar to the kit that we currently sell, however a few pipes would be routed different to clear the short ram intake on your vehicle.

We have had a few people submit product ideas for this and we just want to get a few more opinions before we move forward on this.

yes yes yes please... i like the side route of the hotside instead of over the engine.can i order one right now. most peaple will already have a SRI by the time they are thinking of buying an intercooler.which basically puts the cs fmic kit out of the picture. just my 2 cents

So you guys are just gonna say fuck it? What about DwightS?

I'm already getting one of your top mounts, but I would like you to respond to the criticisms you're getting for the FMIC+ram air kit:

My Corksport FMIC kit for Genpu

The guy who bought the kit from you guys is selling it because he can't get it to work and he doesn't seem to be getting much help from you guys. See post 264 for what I'm talking about.

You guys are a great company, please make this right.

This kit would be offered in addition to the full ram air kit, not in place of it. So you would have the choice of the full ram air kit, the SRI addition kit, or the TMIC.

DwightS is a good customer of ours and we have resolved his issue. We have been looking into the SRI version of the FMIC kit, but just want to see if the interest is out there for it.

Yeah, sorry about that - I went back and reread it and it seems like all of the major issues were sorted out.

Still dunno about the brackets though, didn't hear anything about that being resolved, but I could be wrong.

Would the core size be the same? What cfm will the one for the ram air kit flow?

I wouldn't be interested in one immediately, but there are people out there who would be.

Based on feedback from several sources, it sounds like there would be enough interest in this. We'll look into keeping the stock shroud if routing the pipe around the side will not increase pipe length too much.

Please post any ideas you would like to see incorporated and we'll try to get a prototype going here soon.

If the hot pipe is routed along the intake, a CAI would not fit. But if we routed the hot side piping over the valvecover, then you would most likely have plenty of room for a CAI (we would need to confirm fitment with this though).

Yes, but try to avoid going toward the passenger side as that'll force us to relocate the washer fluid resovior. PITA

FMIC + SRI FTW!

Actually its perfectly relevant.... They are talking a bout a redesign of an excellent product they make to accomodate more enthusiasts. I already have a CAI, dont really want to have to buy an SRI if i dont have to. Thats why I asked. But thank you for being a moderator in training, this site needs more of you around.

That wasn't the post I was referring to bud. It got deleted and I didn't know so now my post looked like I was pointing to a different one. If you read this post you can see I'm one that kind pushed this whole thing as I did it on my own and showed Corksport what I did. nice try though brownie.

Yes sir. Would be interesting. Need some more options. I plan on getting a FMIC sometime in the future especially if I go BT. So lets see what you got

I got around to doing some test fitting with our SRI installed. Here is a picture of our FMIC installed with our SRI and TIP instead of the Ram-air type box.

We still need to do some more testing, but at the moment, all you would need to do to your intake (CS SRI) is add a longer silicone coupler between the MAF housing and TIP to clear the hot side piping (which would be included in the kit).
Price would be right around $599, but may vary slightly.

Also, we would have to confirm this, but it appears that a CAI may clear the piping just fine.

Me like!!! Got a time frame for release? I'm looking to pick up a FMIC by the end of this month.

this was the first way I had done mine back in 2009 before I cut the one intercooler pipe and extended it. this method involved me putting an extension off the turbo inlet. I didn't like this way as much because it put the filter next to the coolant line and the hot pipe, heat soak was more evident this way than the way I have it now, also shown below. This is a speed6 fyi.

how i have it now, able to use a bigger filter too:

FMIC+SRI= smart business move to say the least.

Every GenPu owner gets an SRI of sorts as their first mod, a lot of them are even yours... Do it to it guys.

So this extension to the coupler would work with all other SRI's or just the CS SRI? Not everybody has a CS SRI so I'm wondering if those with the cp-e/cobb sri's would be fine as well...

IS the FMIC still beneficial on the gen 2 even though that smiley face seems like it would block most of the flow... Def would be interested though!

FMICs are better than TMICs, even with the smiley face. Ask Amazon about his thoughts on his CPE TMIC vs. his UR FMIC that he just switched to. FMIC=slightly slower spool, but more mid range and top end, and cooler BATs. You can run more boost safely with the FMIC, the only real advantage of the TMIC is the ease of installation.

The only thing I would add to that nate is that the k04 isn't really efficient by redline in our cars, so while the FMIC does have more power up top, you're really stressing the k04 pushing 17+psi in that rev range.

Other than that, a FMIC is going to be way better in terms of cooling efficiency and heat soak.

For the stock turbo, doing a TMIC setup with meth is another good solution - once I can get my hands a fuel pump, that's the route I hope to go. Stg 1 devil's own kit + $15 autozone windshield washer reservoir with the 3" corksport TMIC.

I'd be very interested especially at that price, just wondering since it hasn't been clarified whether this will be for the ms6 as well or just for the 3s?
