Something tells me that will be a consumer test. I asked about this in the original concept thread, and haven't seen a scrap of data.

Cautiously optimistic. I'll hold off until someone posts reliable number differences.

It is a good looking piece. I don't expect any changes to BAT's but really this is an appearance piece. Good job CS.

They are claiming it does drop BATs.

Improved airflow: Allow your engine to open up and breathe the cool outside air with our larger Mazdaspeed Carbon Fiber Hood Scoop.
Would be nice to know if this is based on science or just a general "bigger is better" mindset.

As much as it helps your BATS, It'll actually slow you down from wind resistance.

Increased drag coefficient vs. Increased forced convection over the TMIC would be an interesting thread. Hopefully the people who get this product first are methodical about recording data and logging so the rest of the forum can benefit. I would consider this for my ets if bats decreased.

I don't think the increased drag would be that great. Bats might be slightly lower. I actually think this would be more beneficial for this car at higher speeds. The reason being at high speeds, incoming air just below the scoop is likely to "hit" the convexed hood and traverse well above the hoods surface making an "arc" over the scoop (see airfoil theory and angle of attack). Although you are more than likely pulling more air through the scoop at higher speeds, you could very well be pulling proportionally less air then at lower speeds due to this effect. The larger scoop should move the opening into the stream more and allow for lower bats.

Summary: in theory, lower bats. In for results.

Partner up with someone (Mazda?) or buy time at someone else's wind tunnel (educational facilities, etc).

I would personally never buy a part like this unless it was proven to provide a performance benefit, I would never ever put something this ricey on my car. That might not be the case for some people, but for me it is. Hopefully (and probably) the community will provide subjective feedback, but it's nothing like controlled testing.

I would personally never buy a part like this unless it was proven to provide a performance benefit, I would never ever put something this ricey on my car. That might not be the case for some people, but for me it is. Hopefully (and probably) the community will provide subjective feedback, but it's nothing like controlled testing.
Really? From your sig: "CorkSport Fog, DRL and Interior LEDs" Please tell me about the performance increase the interior leds gave you.

Well clearly they have less draw on the electrical system which results in decreased engine load and freeing up that precious extra 0.01hp

Honestly though, they're just brighter so I can see better inside the car at night trying to find stuff or whatever...I wouldn't call them ricey, you don't know they're there unless you know what stock lights look like, not like an oversized hood scoop could be or other typically ricey mods.

While we're at it, please tell me the performance benefit you get by running your BOV 50-50 (unless you're running a blow through setup, in which case, I'll shush)

I never claimed to have a problem with ricey parts, you did. And if you must know, I run it cause I got it for super cheap and my stock one was leaking.

Everyone has some rice in them, embrace yours, dont be a pompus ass hat and say things like this: "I would personally never buy a part like this unless it was proven to provide a performance benefit".

But it's a true statement in this case, I wouldn't buy a part like this [hood scoop] unless it was proven to provide a performance benefit. I frankly don't like the stock hood scoop even, but at least it's stock and reasonably fits the face of the car. Nothing pompus or ass hat about it, it's just my personal choice about this hood scoop...if corksport came along and said we've proven that on average it lowers BAT's by 10f, I could justify it.

It depends. Most everyone who is getting one had it shipped already and "should" have a tracking number. We did run out earlier than expected, and though we tried to cut it off once out... ya'll were just to speedy.

If you are unsure if yours is making it out or not and want to know, call me or email me with your First and Last name so I can look up your order.

I got a voicemail earlier from Derrick I believe, saying that my scoop should be shipped out no later than Friday. I hope everything goes as planned. Thanks again Spencer.
