I agree with the shift pattern color. Also, if you had heavier options, I might spring for it. At 300g, it's too close to stock to justify it imo

1) The baseball stitch looks like someone from the Helen Keller foundation did it.

2) The embossed shift pattern won't last a month without getting discolored and wrecked from your palm being on it so much. Oils in your skin will discolor it.

3) Weight is good. Anything heavier just slows you down. I'm back to oem because I shift quicker with it.

Besides cleaning up the stitching, something else needs to be done for the shift pattern to make it stand out.

But looks great regardless. Would buy.

Make one lighter than stock and you have a customer in me. Forget these fags that want big, heavy black balls in their hands.

The heavier the weight the slower it is to move but the lighter the weight it feels like crap when you put it in gear. Ever used an aluminum knob? They always feel like you are shifting air. Not to mention they burn you in the summer and are cold in the winter.

I originally did an embossed pattern because a stitch would get worn quickly by your hand. The best option might be no pattern? Option on no pattern.

This is just a sample so the final will have a better and possibly brighter stitch.

If no one can think of any other changes I will start making a bunch of them. Or if anyone can convince me to go a different way.

First off - It's fucking beautiful...

2nd - lol that looks almost identical to my Probe shift knob. Offer those to the ProbeTalk kids and MX6.com/MX3.com. As well as the Protege guys. I think the P5 had that knob, too.

I'm a ball fan. I'd like a leather covered 2" ball knob with a slight extension and stock weight. Like the COBB knob but with leather on top or even better alcantara.

I use a COBB knob with a SSP and no counterweight. With the shifter adjusted properly it still goes into gear just fine and I feel much more connected to the car. Heavy knobs feel like playing a shitty arcade game.

I like it. I agree with the color in the shift pattern as well as cleaning up the stitching. Other than that it looks awesome.

+1 for what @Lex said, if you did that I'd probably be buying one and selling my TWM knob.

If the choice is between an embossed pattern and no pattern then I'd say go with no pattern.

I like a heavy weighted knob so I wouldn't consider replacing my JBR heavy knob unless this one was at least 500 grams.

I often hold the shifter from the side. So the factory shape is more appealing to me. If you hold it from the top the ball might be better. I will work on a sample of a ball style wrapped in leather. Probably will be roughly 300g also since that seems to be the magic middle number.

I really like how it is now. There is too many "ball" like shift knobs.

I agree. I've owned about a billion cars and possibly even more shift knobs than cars. My favorite were always leather wrapped and less ball like. I liked some of my TWM knobs but they were all metal. I had to have a sock in the car for hot days or the car was un-drivable. My hands down favorite shift knob was a TRD leather knob.

If you could stamp an acrylic piece through the leather for the shift pattern that would be best. That way you don't have to worry about discoloration or wear.

I had a really nice TRD knob in my celica

I like the idea of an "inlay" for the shift pattern. Maybe something a layer underneath the leather (possibly different color choices). I like it with the shift pattern rather than without all together.

Also how about a "cylindrical" style leather wrapped?

No shift pattern or stitch it w/o the R & numbers as they would look awful that small.

Why not offer both - same shift knob but one with pattern and one without?

I would say don't mimic the stock knob, as I've never liked the shape and it looks to me like it's around the same shape. Go with a more unique shape, most like the spherical or cylindrical.

Colors are cool though but make the shift pattern colored.

And maybe heavier?

I like the leather wrapping. I love my JBR knob, but in the summer it feels like it's going to leave grill marks.

The most comfortable knob Ive ever used was my stock protege5 leather knob. Thing fit perfectly in your hand in whatever position.

In fact..im kind of considering taking my jbr off and throwing my stock back on just for a change...

I really like the look of it, like everyone's already said, either color the shift pattern or lose the shift pattern entirely and put a CS logo on the top of the shift knob instead of the side.

Throw mazdaspeed on the side rather than corksport? Or is company logo pretty much required?

How hard would it be to offer different weights, or possibly an option to add-remove weight somehow. Possibly a snap ring in the bottom you can pop off an add weight. Please everyone.
I like the design and the full corksport logo.
As was mentioned before, tighten up the stitching.
I don't see the need for a shift pattern.
Possibly to build on the acrylic inlay idea mentioned before, with a CS logo or maybe reserve this for the ball style.
