Like it but would like to see some color on the shift pattern.

Yeah that would be ugly since we are located in a country which Mazda can go after you for using their name.

Plus it's a CorkSport knob, not a Mazdaspeed knob.

Any info on projected release date and whether this will be available always or is it a small production run?

^ ^ What he said about the CS logo on the top as inlay or under plexi. No need for a shift pattern. Does anyone ever look down to see what gear they're in? Rarely.
I have a Sure AGS and a JBR cylindrical but I've been using the stocker for months now. Why? I like the feel and grip of the leather. I have a TWM Stage 2 and don't need a weighted knob or a lightweight one either.
With that said I wonder how a cylindrical leather knob would feel.

I have a Speed6 so the red stitching has no style points. So a black stitch option too?

I would definitely be interested in this. I have no need for a shift pattern, though options for stitching color would be nice.

i too like the all metal knob, and yes the sock thing made me laugh because I end up taking off a sock or using my hat as a glove. im glad i wasnt the only one that did that.

If I had to choose, I would go with red stitching and no shift pattern on top.

BUT.......

I would love to see a design that doesn't mimic the stock shifter. One of the most comfortable shifters I've driven with was on a BMW, but those are all compression fit. I would love to see a threaded one in leather, but retain the same overall shape.. I don't want to de-rail the thread any further, so here's a link to a pic if you wanna take a look... https://www.1stbmwparts.com/popup_im...ca9ab03e613510

I've always liked the S2000 style knob:

If you're gonna create a shift pattern, it's gotta be embossed in metal.

Make it like the OEM Evo (8) shift knob! With red stitching of course!

I just don't like all metal shift knobs because they get so damn hot in the summer (especially here in FL).

I'm honestly diggin the design originally posted.
Blue stitching should be available too! Shift knobs are usually too expensive for my taste but I like how CS is trying to make a replacement that looks more OEM than the OEM knob. I'd buy

The knob looks great, BUT with out the knob being interchangeable with colors or pattern/no pattern/colored pattern/acrylic overlay pattern, at least with the people in this thread, they will sit on the shelf, give or take 10 to 20.

here is a cheap example of a ball style one from NRG

I like MOMO shift knobs personally.

How about different color stiching or if you could make me one with orange stitching that would be amazing.

I looked at all the feedback and made a decision. Depending on how the original batch sells i might do a ball style leather wrapped knob and choices of stitching color. The only issue with the stitching color would be that it would not match the original leather shift boot.

I love my JBR spherical knob. The temp of the ball didt bother me in the summer, though my kritz-rings did explode from the heat twice. I rather prefer the feel of the heavier knob to the stock weight. That said, I like the feel of the factory knob in my hand. If CS could pull off something just like the factory knob but somewhere around like 650-700g I'd probably buy it in place of my JBR. Or make 3 different weights in 2 styles. Make 3 round (1 like 100g, 1 about stock weight, and 1 really heavy), and 3 shaped like the factory knob (again, 1 light, 1 about stock weight, and 1 really heavy). Anyway, definately need a heavy knob. I don't see the need for basically just a cosmetic change to the knob. There needs to be multiple weights.

It will be very similar. Slightly heavier than stock, no shift pattern(since I don't think I can make on that wont wear), and black leather with red stitching.

I think the pattern would look much better if it was bigger now that I look at it again. But I'd probably still buy it without the pattern.

Too bad you couldnt offer white stitching as well. If you have a 08.5 then it could match the white needles or you just want white instead or red.

Looks too much like stock, and the pattern on it looks a bit off... too small maybe. But still I like it.

I don't see how anyone likes a ball knob? And a heavier than stock is needed the ms3 has a terrible stock shifter feel. If you don't think so you never drove a nicer car

All I want for Christmas is a s2000 style knob (with leather around the middle) with the Mazda thread pattern and maybe a bit more height than stock.

So I'll try to keep it under $71 ...

I agree on the shifter but even with a 500g knob the shifter will not feel like a wonderful shifter. If you take the boot off and watch the shifter you can see all sorts of slop in the crappy plastic base. I never used one of the metal replacement shifters so that might solve the issue. I've never been a huge fan of cable shifters anyway. Just some thoughts.

Also, if the complete shifter makes a world of difference then should I look into producing one?

if you produce a complete shifter with a replacement for the plastic base if thats possible, id buy one. but it will take more than one person to agree with me to get that idea going.

TWM charges like $500 for their metal shifter assembly.

I'm tentatively interested in a corksport shifter assembly, but I don't see how you guys would be able to keep the price down with how complicated the thing is.

IIRC cobb doesn't make the base, just this part:

As they don't make a short throw shifter for the 2010+ models I'd be interested in something like that, aka less than a full replacement.

If you plan on making it height-adjustable I'd be really pumped if you could have it at least as tall as the factory shifter.

Would two do it? lol I'd buy it for sure but the 4-500 $ one isn't a high priority buy considering prerequisite mods, for me anyways. If it was a bit more affordable, I'm sure it would sell.

ehh even still, i think he'll need a solid hundred or so to begin research/development. the wait begins...

what it comes down to @Brydon@CorkSport; is that the people here would like a few different options. maybe one that is leather and light, and one that is metal and heavy. different color stitching if possible for the leather, and nicely colored shift patterns on the heavy one. oh, and the cheaper the better comes without saying, but we understand the r&d takes time and money which is where price is derived from, but i'm sure you'll work something out.

I was looking at a 2012 Skyactiv 3 and realized they used the same shifter as the MS3. The Cobb style shifter might be worth it since it will work on a whole mess of cars. 2010+ MS3 and all the new Mazda3 SkyActivs. I might look at this in the coming weeks if there is an interest in the double adjustable shifters. It think the price would be around the $250 range since there will be a lot involved in making them.
