I already posted a quick review and imressions a ways back. The stitching is well done and even. all of the seams and inserts are centered corectly. The base is an oem base so everything transfers over without any hassle. It was literally a 15-20 minute job. It matches perfect with everything. It feels much more reassuring in the hand.

Not the least bit shoddy, nor are any of the other CS parts I have.

Thanks. I did see that post. I was really wondering about the workmanship of the wheel. This is the company that glued their catch cans together and had lugs nuts fail, so one can be skeptical.

Yeah I heard about those but I've only had my 3 a little over a year so I guess I was lucky enough to get in after the oopsies by several of the companies. Everyone makes mistakes though, and alot of times great things come out of some pretty bad fuck ups. Seriously though the wheel is very, very well done. Definitely worth the price imo.

I'm not a fan of them, but I've always found the stock steering wheel to be too thin. I wish I could handle one before I bought one.

There IS one other product I'm aware of that exists as an option for the GenPu and looks rather similar to that wheel: The AutoExe - https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/45000

Also, its rather comparative in price (especially for the ultra JDM Mazda brand of choice).. Conversion rate puts it at $307, plus another $50-60 for shipping. I've had my eye on the AutoExe wheel as a "when I get all my other mods/have money to blow" wishlist mod. I'd like to see how the two would stack up against each other.

I think a lot of folks would be all over this, even those without the mod bug. The factory wheel is just not up to spec with other similar modern performance cars (ie: Golf R, Focus ST). And price is just affordable enough. Don't make me use my sad spaghetti-thin wheel forever.
Agreed, after test driving a couple other cars when shopping for my Speed, I'd say I was disappointed with the steering wheels in our cars, although that wasn't a deciding factor since I'm posting here today.

Either way, I'm pretty down to hop on the GenPu train for this, pending pics and reviews of how it'd turn out for our Gen. Regardless it's good to have another option on the market (aside from the AutoExe)

I hope the Gen2 one looks more like he ebay one posted then the Auto Exe, it looks like it is shaped better for having your hands at 3 and 9.

Why would you hold your wheel at 3 and 6?

That's me trying to do too much actual work while trying not to do work and then not paying attention to which button I hit on the number pad, I meant to say 3 and 9.

A friend of mine just received his steering wheel in red. He raves about the feel of it. Installation was straight forward. Remember your T40 Torx driver. This photo should illustrate the size difference.

I'll turn in a product request for an MS6 version. Its a longshot, I know. But, I'd prepay right now if they want proof that at least one person would buy it. LOL.

Looks great, I'd like the option not to have the CS stitched in though, it ruins the look a bit I think.

I finally received my wheel today. It looks beautiful and the materials are very good!
However, i wish some of the details would have been better taken care of, such as these:

So what's next @CorkSport, a better driver seat?
Cheapspeed likes this.

I checked on Corksport's website today. All that is available is the red-insert version. Sadness.

Doesn't look stitched well. @CorkSport; what say you? I was finally considering buying one of your products but this picture has me second guessing. Is this steering wheel going to hold up to daily abuse? What if it starts to come apart, what is your warranty?

Very good questions... My car is 100% DD and those areas are touched frequently. I'll see how this goes in time after 2-3 leather treatments which mean no more than like 3 months during summer.
The quality is no doubt very good for the money of a complete steering wheel but these are just small details that cost 0 bucks to address from the manufacturing stage and would make this product be awesome instead of just good value for the money.
To be honest when I saw those imperfections I started to have second thoughts about selling the factory steering wheel (which as you can see it's impeccable after more than 100k) but really we will have to see how the leather will react in those areas after using the wheel for a while and after applying leather treatment (maybe the leather in those areas will tuck in, I don't know...).

I'll install it after I'll repaint the car at the end of April/beginning of May because I don't want the guys from the paint shop to think about taking the nylon foil off just to see how it looks and eventually feels in their dirty hands.
But I definitely will post pictures when I'll install it

Can you tell us if you noticed the same imperfections in the stitching?

My stitching is perfect all the way around. The leather all meets evenly without any overlapping or poking. Also there are no wrinkles or waves in it. In fact I think I'm going to order a new airbag just because the chrome on the emblem is getting faded and now rest of the wheel looks so much better.

Ok, that sounds like I took the short straw here and now that the first contact excitement passed I can look at it with a more objective eye and I feel like returning it... If it wasn't sent from another planet I would have done that already. I'll think about this in the next few days. However, considering the shipping fees back and forth + import tax and everything else it's probably going to be cheaper to fix it or even re-do it locally. I have to admit, not the best day of my life...

@CorkSport should definitely do a better job with the quality control but yeah, I hope yours will be perfect.

I just want to know the leather and stitching is sturdy and will hold up to years of abuse backed by a reasonable warranty. @CorkSport;

So what's next @CorkSport, a better driver seat?

Maybe I am missing it due to the photos being lower quality, but that doesn't look bad to me. For a handmade wheel I can't imagine it being much better. All stitching lines up from what I see. I do see leather being leather and tufting a little at the edges.

As per usual we have a 2 year warranty on the steering wheel.
It should hold up fine to daily driving if you are normal with it.

Black insert steering wheels are sold out. I was advised by Derrick that more might be available at end of May.

I install mine ... it's a really nice piece in the hand but I found like mituc ... the steering need better attention. it's not 100% perfect : the stitches to join the leather doesn't fit perfectly. The fit and finish isn't as good as the OEM steering wheel. For the rest, AWESOME. @CorkSport; work on that and you will have a AWESOME product !!!

I finally got my car back from the body shop yesterday and managed to install the steering wheel this morning.

The install is not bad, quite easy. CS rates it at 30 minutes IIRC but it can be done in like 10. I did it in about one hour because I couldn't stop my OCD from kicking in when it came to aligning the sound and cruise control buttons, and of course I had to put some leather treatment on it as well. When aligning the volume and CC buttons on a fresh steering wheel you may need to use something to tap the leather where it comes into contact with those holders. Then pay attention to the aligning tabs and screw hole, and that's it. Do not screw that bold full in, just be patient and align/tap everything properly before you make it final.
