Good question, we didn't have them at the time of testing (we've been doing this research for quite some time). But the dimensions haven't changed so the results should be the same. The old one was good, the new one is probably even better! So no worries there.

Cheers,
Joel

First off awesome blog, someone needed to step up and review the fuel pumps.

I am a little confused though as I have personally seen cp-e's stock of fuel pumps. None of them had an apr sticker on them. I was down there a couple months ago and again last weekend. Are you sure this is this was bought from cp-e or one of it's vendors? I know for a fact that cp-e tests their pumps in house and after the test they put numbered cp-e sticker on as well as a certificate of testing. cp-e also puts a serial number on both the pump and certificate. All cp-e serial numbers are in sequential order and I can tell you for a fact they are no where near 3629 as in your photo. Part numbers are also different as the cp-e part number is MZR23HPFP. @superskaterxes; was right in questioning this.
Please PM me or email me so we can get to the bottom of this.

So lets get this straight, you got the CPE pump FROM CPE, and it DID NOT have the APR sticker on it. You then used the pump, found an issue, sent it BACK to CPE, and when you received the pump BACK FROM CPE, it at that point, had the ARP sticker on it?

Just making sure everyone understands the path at which this pump took during its life.

Correct, AND...... who cares. What we really need to focus on is the performance on the pumps, not where they are made. Mazdaspeed cams are made by Ford, that doesn't mean they are poor quality. Having the machinery to do certain things can make it cost prohibitive to make and sell certain items.

This has gotten pretty off topic, many of us are confused as to why this is some sort of sticking point for a few people. It was assumed to be common knowledge for many but even then, it really shouldn't matter. If they have an exclusive deal then it does become their part. The real thing to remember is that it is a good pump and does a good job.

In fact, almost 100% of ANY mass production vehicle is produced outside of buildings with the actual manufactures name on them, by smaller subcontracted shops, and then simply shipped to -insert manufacture here- for final assembly. The "ford cams" are likely made by a cam specific company and stamped "ford".

how awesome would it be of CPE to troll corksport and put a PTP or HPFP Upgrage sticker on the pump. That would be worth a couple lols

Any difference in stroke length between internals? Is there any way to modify their length to increase stroke and thus more flow?

Stroke is fixed by the lobe on the cam, so that's out unless you play with a new profile on teh cam.

Currently we haven't seen the DI system run out of fuel on the pump end before the injectors. So unless either pressure is increased or volume is the current pumps get the job done.

I'm about to have to do something filthy to get my AT internals...

I never took apart the stock HPFP, but how hard would it be to machine a new housing to allow for a larger or longer plunger? Without disassembling one, it seems like a very simple part or that it works on basic principles.

I'd be willing to pay a grand or a little more for a brand new pump design that eliminated the need for port injection or 5th port. If not eliminate PI, at least move the requirement for up past 500-600 WHP if the injectors could handle that flow.

Considering we already max out the injectors (110-115% IDC) don't think it'll make any difference

With my luck these will be $250 and install themselves while giving you a handy, and available tomorrow.
