(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Has CorkSport given up on the First Gen Speed 3? With the recent history of product releases for the Speed 3 market (sorry MS6 guys), CS has catered only to the Second generation of MS3s. eg: Battery Box & Coolant Tank. Universal parts that fit between both generations, like intakes and maybe the STS in the works, don't really count. Conversation with Joel in shout resulted in him saying the coolant tank would NOT be made for the 1st gens and the battery box is on the back burner. Now logic dictates that the coolant tank would be applicable to the older first gens since they are, well, older and more likely to suffer from failure (like mine did) than the newer second gens. A fact that I pointed out in the corresponding tank thread. The funny thing is, I think it was CS themselves who posted information (of course I can't find the post now) regarding the number of speed3s sold by generation and I think it was the first gens that outsold the current second gens. I'm writing this thread to hopefully remind CS that the 1st gen market is still large and viable (not to bash them) and because I want a bat box and coolant tank for my '07

| Not Ranked : 0 score That coolant tank will not be. There may be another one in the future, but that specific design won't be. The battery box is being worked on but takes quite a bit of time. With the fuel pump and some really cool parts coming (that will work on both Gen's) we're pretty backlogged. Rest assured that Gen 1's are still going to get love, I just saw Kelly out working on 1st Gen hood struts yesterday. So don't worry, we didn't forget about you. Cheers, Joel |

I'm not first hand doing any engineering or production work myself, just noticing when they work on my car the different phases they go through. And though the Genwon may get less love, it still is getting love, I'm making sure of that since I own one!

Also, was it you that posted the numbers for mazda speed sales for gen 1 and 2? I know someone did cuz I read it, and i swear i thought i read that gen 1s outsold gen 2s... EDIT: I can understand the "Measuring, Creating a Prototype, Test Fitting, Re-measuring, Re-working, New Prototype, Final Adjustments, Final Prototype, Then building dozens" for the coolant tank for gen 1 since the design is significantly different. BTW, why is CS opposed to building this for the gen 1?

Ok true to some extent, but the battery box does still need to be reworked, just maybe not as much. Not sure what the hold up is on that. As for the coolant tank, I can almost guarantee we just aren't having the demand we thought we would, so we assume if we went through the work of doing a genjuan, it would also not sell very well. Sometimes people don't put up their money to back up their mouth. I wasn't the one that posted the numbers, in fact I wish I knew the numbers! If I had knowledge of them or had seen them that would be fantastic!

Meaning Camshafts, hpfp internals, intercooler cores. Etc. They are dedicated to our platform as a whole, there is just so many hours in a day Joel@corksport likes this.
