Default Installed my Corksport TIP yesterday, yay!!!!!

So I have and had since I got the car, a COBB SRI. I just wanted to point out a few things. I am extremely klutzy sometimes, having said that, whenever I am working on cars - which isnt all that much lately, I am extremely careful and take my time. Working on a lowered car SUCKS ASS my back still hurts. The install took me like 3 hrs, and that fucking stock battery tray wedges so tightly against the TIP that I couldnt get the 2nd bolt that holds it in. I droppeed a small wrench down by the driveshaft somewhere and couldnt see it or get to it.... But in the end I was victorious, the acceleration has improved quite a bit over the setup I had, and the sound improved greatly. My hands and knuckles are scratched up as shit, and I was racing the sunset to finish up. I also had to borrow a 10mm deep socket from a neighbor, cause Im a loser and my deep sockets start at 12mm. I installed the TIP once and got it to line up only to realize that I forgot the clamp, which brings me to another point - the clamps corksport includes are THE SHIT.

Anyways, I have yet to fully test out the new capabilities of the car. Corksport FTW you guys are Awesome.

I called twice with install questions (stupid newb questions like are you sure the adaptor goes in the way you said in the instructions, or does the new vacuum hose thats included need small clamps, or is the wrench i dropped gonna mess up some shit) and got instant answers without being dicked around, put on hold, or transfered a million times.

Point being

Corksport - thanks guys.

One thing I did notice - is the COBB SRI has a much wider dieameter that the tip and when I tigthened the clamp from the SRI onto the TIP it looked like a xl tshirt thats two sizes two big on a person tigthened with a belt at the waist. I dont know if there was supposed to be some sort of adaptor for that or not, but overall it was fun, my back hurts, and by installing it myself I actually realized that I spent a useful 100 bucks and did something with it.

I'm LOL'ing at the battery tray, why didn't you just take it off? It's all good man we've all lost stupid shit in the engine bay, shit half of us have left tools on top of shit just to find it days later.

I loved the TIP, the stock one is so fucked up, I mean how could air flow that well through it, and I'm guessing like mine as soon as you tapped it, it just about fell off. Also as far as the sound increase it can't be beat. Did you look at your turbo while you were in there? I remember when I took mine off everything looked great, but when I took the new TIP and SRI off for a dealer visit some blow by def was around the inner part of the turbo. So I would watch out for that.

What do you mean just take it off??? And put the battery in without the tray? I guess thats an option I didn't even get the inkling to think about. Speaking about the quality of the TIP, when I showed the corksport TIP to my wife out of the bux, shes like why is it so ugly with the welds and everything, I was like well honey theyre welds, thats how theyre done. When I finally took the old POS TIP out I called my wife to come outside and held up the two side by side for her, she was like "Oh, wow, ok...How does air get through that square shapeless thing"

I looked at the turbo and everything looked awesome, the stock tip was on well but it did come off real easily. I actually wanted to spend more time just awkwardly gazing at the turbo, but I was under time constraint to make sure I finish before dark, so I just looked at it a little bit.

Sounds fucking great, feels pretty good too. The acceleration is a lot peppier, although like I said I didn't get to test it out all that much yet.

BTW not too worried about dealer visits anymore because my whole rear end was replaced under warranty already along with the driveshaft, and I have less than 200 miles of coverage remaining.

BTW the main thing I remember thinking - omg this turbos tiny as shit - the only one I've seen smaller was on a old saab 9000 at crazy ray's (a pull your own parts junkyard) two weeks ago.

oh shit i'm an idiot, I thought you meant it was hard to get the TIP on with the tray in the way, not that it was rubbing right now on it. My bad...

I just wish the damn dp was as easy to install as the TIP.....one day...now that will wake the engine up!

now get the rest of it, the airbox is pretty useful too. Only cold air in there.

Tho I must say, the fitment is not as good as I would have hoped for. There is space around where the pipe goes into the box and also the top cover is quite hard to get installed the first time at least.

Any discount on the updated part? For those of us who bought the earlier one? Beta testers if you will

Thank you for that clarification, Derrick.

As soon as I find some sort of employment, I will most likely buy it.

However, I do have a COBB SRI with a Corksport TIP so I dont know if it would work in my case.
