Just ordered the MS6 13" Big Brake kit So, I decided to spend every possible dollar on a car that I've wasted too much money on already.... So, I ordered the CorkSport 13" big brake kit. At least from the description, sounds like a very nice kit. Aluminum hat two-piece rotor. 4 piston calipers. And much less expensive than any other 13" kit. I like the fact Corksport provides a template to verify fitment. I'm running 17" and at first I thought I couldn't do a big brake kit. But, yeah, my 17" wheels have a lot of brake room and it will fit with room to spare. I did for a while consider some of the other kits. There is Brembo, Wilwood and StopTech. But the Brembo and Wilwood kits are one-piece rotors. The StopTech is two-piece and perhaps even a better kit -- but it is also almost a grand more. So the CorkSport kit seems like the best value. There isn't anything available for the rear for the MS6. Probably just as well. The stock rear rotor on the MS6 is almost as big as the front rotor. Just get decent rotors and pads and its fine. I bought a G2 kit to paint the rear calipers. Just out of curiosity, I researched why there is no rear option. It didn't realize that the emergency brake added that much complication. But it seems the emergency brake does make it hard to upgrade the rear. Fastbrakes said they could possibly build a dual caliper rear kit for the MS6. They have done that for some RX7s. But it would be cost-prohibitive. Again, I'm sure just good rotors and pads in the rear is more than enough. Plus of course the red paint will make them work just as well as Brembos, as everyone knows... I don't anticipate having the car back on the road again until around February. In the mean-time, I'm upgrading about every conceivable thing just cuz I'm stupid and like to spend money... |
