couldnt agree more. reminds me of the older Subi interiors. Very plain and cheap looking. Granted, I get that its a "performance car", but for $36k+, I expect the interior to at least somewhat reflect that price tag.

I just don't understand how companies continue to produce poor interiors when something like the GTI has clearly been taking risks on their interior and people have been loving it for years. I don't get how hard it is to do something similar, or better and less risky.

Yep. This is what people were saying about the Evo for years. $40k for a car with a plain Lancer interior and fancy seats.

I personally don't really want AWD, I would rather see Mazda putting there efforts into other (in my opinion) more important aspects of the car. I don't want this car to cost as much as an STI...

I would like to see a back to basics approach, no fancy new gadgets, no fancy interior etc. I would like to see them make the existing platform lighter and more rigid, there are so many areas that could shed weight, the hood weighs a ton. As we all know a lighter car makes EVERYTHING better.

The suspension could definitely be improved upon, you could possibly even lift some of the geometry from some of Mazda's better handling cars so we already have options such as coilovers available right out the box. They could always throw in an improved diff to further refine the FWD characteristics. We also need to be able to run wider tires, allot wider if we feel like it.

I would like to see the Speed 3 turned into a true drivers car, that with a bit of work, could be an incredible drivers car.

Most importantly, it should look exactly like a Gen 1 (:

I honestly don't find the interior as nice as people claim they are in the reviews. As for exterior styling, I couldn't agree more. It looks like a boxy turd.

Yes. My MS3 is my daily. I've spent almost 100k miles and probably 2000 hours in it. I'm not looking for fine Corinthian leather, but I do want it to be well put together, comfortable and durable. I like the interior of the first gen, but, if I'm nitpicking, I would like a little more padding on the door cards and better plastics on the dash. And heated seats.

Wouldn't own a GTI, also hate the image.

But things have really improved on the MK7 for sure, performance and build quality wise. The engine is pretty stout and definitely making more to the crank than advertised.

If mazda can keep it at or below $30k with AWD and 300hp, itll be successful. I really dont think people will pay $30k+ for a Mazda.

So, this is the first I'm hearing that the RS is gonna be available in the States, so thanks for that info. But isn't a fully loaded ST about $30k?

Anyway, $30k seems a lot for a Mazda because there hasn't been a performance vehicle production car that has been worthy of a price tag like that if you don't account for inflation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this gen3 car be the only one in its class to have an OEM tranny that can handle over 500whp? And the only one with a head up display? It just seems that if the $30k starting price proves accurate, the tech package should still keep it cheaper than a loaded WRX or Evo GSR.

This car has a great 6 speed, there is no need for an over complicated super expensive dual clutch gearbox. I personally prefer my speed 3 6 speed to it to my dads 09 BMW M3, That thing has a 2 mile long shift throw that kills me every time I drive it....

Don't mean to be a boner killer here. The new speed has been shelved once again. Mazda has more of a MPS appearance package developed for the cx3,6,3, and the Mazda 2 (see magazine photos).

Also about the sky platform moving to the cx9 its up in the air. Mazda is considering continuing to use the 3.7l ford platform. Why I don't know. It's garbage and problematic. Any new info I find I will post here in this thread. Let's keep our hopes up. Personally if Mazda doesn't do anything with performance which is the heartbeat of this company I will have to buy something else to keep up with times.

For the record too, I wouldn't believe anything these magazine articles post up. It's all bullshit for hits.

saw a mazda 3 just last week with a "mps appearance" package on it. Its a shame they are putting it back on the shelf, especially with all the new hatches coming to the US market. figured that would've been their incentive to step their game up....guess not...

The rumor out of Irvine is further resource allocation to the Skyactive lineup. MNA should now have a canned response if you were to contact them.

The MPS/MS is still being targeted for global release. But likely in 2017 or beyond.

I get all my news directly from Mazda themselves. They've honestly worked on it/shelved it multiple times. I think the fact the diesel failed for the NA market is making them give less fucks about performance and more drive for slick economy cars. The new miata IMO is a disappointment. 2.0L pushing 150ish HP crank power? Really?

The Mazda 2017 line up is less than a year away. We've already been PDI'ing cars that are of the 2016 year line up. So in all honesty we will hear something this year. If there is no speed then fuck it, I'm building what I have and buying a junk DD.

Early last year Irvine was prototyping a SKY - G Turbo motor, planned for release in the miata. Apparently it was supposed to make its debut release in the CX-9 now. Mazda has pushed back the release of the new CX-9 because they are contemplating on sticking with the ford powerplant. They have tweaked the body for more appearance, areo, and current gen trinkets. Just to increase fuel mileage a cunt hair more. I'll be pissed if the turbo sky version does not make it to release, they already decided not to release the diesel...
