"07-09 Mazdaspeed 3 and Mazdaspeed 6 must make ecu or battery modifications for fitment."

What kind of battery modification on the MS6 is required? Will the intake fit with the BNR, unlike the HTP?

The tight spot is from the tie down for the battery. I know one of the guys here has the BNR on his MS6. I will see how the fitment was.

Will this work with another turbo inlet? I mean, just from the MAF to the filter.
Any plans for an air box for this intake? Or, is it even possible given its size?

Why would you want to use a different turbo inlet? I'd imagine most people who have big inlet's (for big turbo's or whatever) already have big intakes.

I had this issue with my JBR 3" intake - was pretty easy to deal with. I just bent the hell out of the tie-down so it was crescent moon shaped away from the intake, and then put a piece of boost tube silicone over it so that any rubbing that did happen wouldn't damage anything. Been running it this way for 3-4 months with no issues. No need to modify anything else if that's the only place you're tight.

Bigger question with 3"+ intakes on the MS6 is whether they clear the brake booster.

So sounds like there is no need for battery/ecu modification for fitting on the GEN 2? I'm only confirming because i know all the other 3" you have to at least remove the ECU cover. So I wonder why this one is different, if it is..

No, not all of them.
I was thinking about another inlet to avoid hacking the battery and ECU. I understand and respect the fact that this is a new whole package and I don't mind changing the entire intake again, just that I don't want to make major changes to risk not passing the visual inspection during smog tests or random police checkups.

I checked with our head engineer, they clear the booster, it is just the battery which is the problem.

So if you use a smaller inlet that fits it kind of defeats the purpose of getting a big intake...you pretty well want 3" all the way.

If possible to get this intake into a box to avoid the engine heat it would be great. There is a fairly dramatic power loss in the summer especially when the car is not moving and the rad fan turns on.

I asked in another post if you will be adding any of your newer released products onto your amazon page. At the very least add this intake, I have amazon gift cards accumulating.

To piggy back off of Lex's question, could you guys quickly test if your air box with the intake on both the gen 1 and gen 2 so we can get an idea of fitment? I'm sure it wont fit but I'm curious if we can cut the box some to make work it. Would be greatly appreciated.

you are smart. i thank you.

wouldnt you just cut a bigger circumference on the hole to the airbox to fit the bigger maf housing? that's where the box connects to the intake isnt it?

If the box just needs trimming that would be great. Just not sure if it will close with the filter on there - CS can confirm.

the only thing really holding me back from getting this is that it only comes polished. I can build my own air box out of aluminum if I needed to so thats not a worry. other than that it looks absolutely badass!

does it come with the Bypass Valve hose or do you have to order that separate? just asking cause the one pic you have of the blue kit has it sitting with it...

It includes the Bypass Valve hose.

I haven't seen on the airbox unfortunately, I can't imagine it would take too much modification, but I'll have to check.

Just asked the Engineers, they said that it would not work with our airbox, it sits too high in the bay. Currently we aren't planning on building an airbox for it, we've never had enough people interested in them to justify the cost of development.

A few questions:

- any gains vs "normal" short ram set up on a stock turbo car?
- Plans to make it carb certified?

Probably not possible to have it CARB certified, because it won't run properly on the stock tune. Part of CARB certification requires that the new part works with the stock tune, IIRC.
CorkSport likes this.
