Default Spencer@CorkSport Got a 2009 MS3

I am officialy a MS3 Owner.

Here are the details.

Had One Previous Owner, Lived it's entire life in Oregon.

107250 miles. High, but I have almost all the maintenence records, for a one owner car, who did 25,000 miles a year. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I noticed a clunk from the rear left suspension when test driving, turned out it was the rear shocks. Since I had it in the contract with the dealer to fix whatever it was, they replaced all the struts.

They also did brand new brakes all around, and made sure everything else was topped up etc. Did an entire safety inspection before selling it to me. The Dealership was Kuni BMW in Beaverton Oregon. They have rave reviews online and really seemed like a stand up dealership so I feel pretty safe with the vehicle. Tires have probably only 5,000-10,000 miles on them. They are Pirelli Pzero Nero tires.

Though Kuni BMW listed it as the Sport Model, it's the Grand Touring with Xenon Headlights, Bose Stereo Setuo, black on black leather seats, auto wipers and headlights, and all the other fancy features.

Previous owner did some minor window tinting but everything else is stock. Which leaves me a lot of room to grow and install CS parts.

Paid $11,800 plus a $75 title processing fee.

I've been looking for about 2-3 months, and this seemed like a solid deal. Let me know what you all think! I'm excited to finally own a Mazdaspeed 3. It was a blast picking it up from the dealership and driving it directly to the Oregon Coast (HWY 26 to HWY 101 for those that know.)

Congrats on the car and good luck in the future modding it. I would start putting money aside for a built/rebuilt motor ASAP.

Exhaust smokes a little, at least according to my brother after he followed me to the beach in his 2004 WRX with an 09 STI Swap. It was a fun drive, and we got a little spirited, so I'm not to worried about a little smoke. It was a little black according to him no white or blue.

Compression test hopefully in a day or two, I have a few days with the dealership where I can bring it back no questions asked... which is pretty cool. Nonetheless it drives and feels good so I'm not to worried, plus working at CS I'm pretty sure if it blows up or anything they will be more than happy if I threw a new engine in it.

Likewise it's kind of nice having a 2013 MS3 with sub 5000 miles on it right now at the shop, and we will then have a 107,000 mile 2009, so components that wear such as the RMM can be tested a little more to see failure points etc. You start to notice what needs to be swapped after it's hit that high of miles, which you might not notice at 10k or 30k or 50k. etc.

Plans: Minimal build (for now) my wife will be driving it a bit too, and until she feels comfortable with it fairly stock, I don't plan on doing anything major. First few mods will be Stage II SRI and CBE, and I'll probably be testing the new BPV. I'm sure the new Battery Box will get tested in it if we can make it fit. I'll probably throw the LED Kit on it. Of course a Race Rear Motor Mount. Not sure much past that yet.

How convenient, it would be a dream to have a job that gave me access to a lift to work on my car.

Yknow... let alone one that makes parts for the thing (:

As I'm sure you're aware...black smoke out of the back of these things when in OL is completely normal. Hell until I leaned out the OTS tune, my car looked like a damn diesel at WOT. As long as there isn't white/blue you're fine.

Just go catless so you can have on-command smoke cloud for tailgating-tree-hugger-prius counter attack of all occassions.

I would also replace the PMM and TMM while you're at it; if you only do the rear mount, the forces normally absorbed by that mount will be transferred to the side mounts. My tranny mount nearly failed after just 10k miles of driving on a stiffer rear mount.

Shweet, you got it!

I know when we talked at RDM you said you were pretty new to Mazda... What do you think so far? How would you compare it to some of your previous rides?

Glad to have you with us! If you can make it, bring it to RDM tonight and say whatup!

I hope this does happen since the other kit im looking at requires me to drill my hood. A bolt on option like what you guys have for the pu would be great. Make it happen!

I think there will be at least 3 MSF MS3's at the meet tonight.

You and/or CS gonna be there too Spencer? (:

Although I have a gen pu, I am glad that somebody at Corksport has a gen Juan, because all the Mazdaspeed platforms need some loving. Spencer, any chance you can convince your coworkers to show the MS6 love as well? I love what this forum does, so I want all Mazdaspeed owners to get some love.

Congratulations Spencer! I have a support group for when you fall off the horse and go mod crazy.

Hrmm, maybe a partnership with @atvfreek; to make you CS-OTS maps such as Lex did with JBR? Just throwing that out there since you've got access to both gens

That's a beautiful sleeper.

*UPS just arrived with my CS TMIC upgrade, happy birthday to me!*

I was out testing my TMIC upgrade, and my wife's VP from Toyota flew up behind me in his brand new 416hp V8 lexus IS-F. I motioned him beside me and gave the nod, yelled hit it, and we went.

I walked him bad enough to 120 to make a comfortable lane change in front of him, and when we got to the light he gave we the "WTF?" with a salute. The best part is my wife gets to tell him that a man his age shouldn't be racing on the streets

Start chucking them bolt-ons at the car Spencer! This shit is too much fun.

Glad to have you with us! If you can make it, bring it to RDM tonight and say whatup!
I actually have owned 3 Mazda Miatas in the past, still own two actually.... so not really new to Mazda, but I am new to the Mazdaspeed 3 (except for the CorkSport Speed 3's I've driven, and multiple customers cars I've seen, touched, ridden in, and helped with issues.)

I would totally have made it to RDM last night, but didn't get home from the beach till 11pm.

Also, curious if you were talking to maybe someone other than me.... I actually wasn't at RDM with CorkSport the other day. But I should be in the future!
