| Not Ranked : 0 score Pass on it; you can get better. I got rid of my 08 w/ 55k on it in mint condition, garage kept, babied, all maintenance records (even receipts of the filters and oil I bought and did myslef) and the dude picked it up from the place I got rid of it for 14500. A few grand on a genone will definitely go a long way in getting you a car in great condition. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of that car...my new-to-me MS6 was definitely not cared for as much as I did for my genone; but it will be now. I plan to keep this thing for many years though and turn it into a project car after that. EDIT: When I start seeing unexplained wiring (even if you can deduce it may have been from a sub), random toggle switches and missing stock accessories I start to question how much the previous owner actually cared for the vehicle. That question leads right to skipped maintenance, etc. I once got a Civic (I was in college, it was cheap, F' Honda's now) that looked in excellent condition had a great Carfax and then I ripped the trunk apart to find trailer wiring, found glass inside the door panel, all sorts of shit that was never apparent. The car blew a rod a few years later, and that was with me taking care of it. EDIT (again): If you really are into the car, what I would do is find a small extremely knowledgeable mechanic that locals recommend and trust and tell the dealership there that before you make an offer you want to have your guy do a complete workup on the car. If they say no, definitely steer away; if they say yes a true mechanic will look at TSBs, verify the condition of all the important components and give you any feedback on major issues. If nothing else, it's good leverage and you can drop the price of any necessary repairs off the price of the car and tell them that you want that money to bring it to the guy to get it fixed. Definitely subtract the cost of the missing OEM accessories though. |
