(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score this is the vehicle in question. it's got around 103k miles, but the car itself is very clean. i test drove it yesterday evening but earlier in the day the computer threw an error and supposedly the injectors need to be cleaned (which they are doing at the dealership today). while driving it yesterday it seemed to run rough and almost misfire at times. basically i'm just worried that it's more than just injectors and that it could possibly be the whole fuel system and also that these chevy technicians aren't competent enough to properly service that motor. but i know you guys know more about this than i do, so any advice you guys have would be great. edit: first post btw |

| Not Ranked : 0 score that seems like alot of miles for a 07, my 08 only just rolled 40k. I tend to not buy used vehicles unless i can see they were well taken care off and run perfect.

| Neutral : +1 score Pass. Now if you already had a dd, I'd offer 8k. You could probably grab it for 9 flat pretty easily. Don't pay over 9. If they don't wanna play ball then go buy yourself a decent gen1 with 50k or less on the odo. Only reason id buy this is for a complete build.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Keep looking. You never know how hard those miles where. I use this rule when I buy a used car. AVG monthly millage 1200x12=14400x5yrs=72000 miles. Who ever had that car drove the crap out of it man. |

you Cannot clean our injectors they spray so much fucking pressure theres no need they are self cleaning, the car more likely has a compression issue, bad gas or fp issue but the best most likely case is needs new plugs and maybe a coil pack | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score when I bought my car there was a power wire run to the hatch from p/o. Doesn't mean anything bad. It's $10k, honestly. If you go in expecting to put some money into it, you'll be fine. If you're expecting cherry, raise your purchase price limit up about 5 grand.

| Not Ranked : 0 score it's missing the reflector on the passenger side rear quarter panel. EDIT: raider already pointed it out. and I have a feeling the switch and power wire are somehow connected.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Pass on it; you can get better. I got rid of my 08 w/ 55k on it in mint condition, garage kept, babied, all maintenance records (even receipts of the filters and oil I bought and did myslef) and the dude picked it up from the place I got rid of it for 14500. A few grand on a genone will definitely go a long way in getting you a car in great condition. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of that car...my new-to-me MS6 was definitely not cared for as much as I did for my genone; but it will be now. I plan to keep this thing for many years though and turn it into a project car after that. EDIT: When I start seeing unexplained wiring (even if you can deduce it may have been from a sub), random toggle switches and missing stock accessories I start to question how much the previous owner actually cared for the vehicle. That question leads right to skipped maintenance, etc. I once got a Civic (I was in college, it was cheap, F' Honda's now) that looked in excellent condition had a great Carfax and then I ripped the trunk apart to find trailer wiring, found glass inside the door panel, all sorts of shit that was never apparent. The car blew a rod a few years later, and that was with me taking care of it. EDIT (again): If you really are into the car, what I would do is find a small extremely knowledgeable mechanic that locals recommend and trust and tell the dealership there that before you make an offer you want to have your guy do a complete workup on the car. If they say no, definitely steer away; if they say yes a true mechanic will look at TSBs, verify the condition of all the important components and give you any feedback on major issues. If nothing else, it's good leverage and you can drop the price of any necessary repairs off the price of the car and tell them that you want that money to bring it to the guy to get it fixed. Definitely subtract the cost of the missing OEM accessories though. |
