Yeah, I will miss the 350 ft-lbs at 2500 RPM and the 420 ft-lbs at 3000 RPMs, but I am guessing being able to peg the stock MAF will more than compensate.

At your altitude, 1.01 is good enough.

Idk I can't get into this, I believe putting it on the rollers is the only way for a real number. I also hate correction factors. Old fashion maybe , but that just me.

There's no reason to doubt VD. It's the same scientific principle behind both; F=ma. The only potential downsides to VD are unlevel roads and head/tail winds.

Why?

It has been determined to correlate very closely, which makes it is a great substitute as long as the critical factors (traction/slope/wind/clutch slippage) are controlled. The underlying physics are the same except for the aerodynamic drag calc in VD, but that is a very simple and well understood calculation.

I will still dyno eventually, but I believe it will be dang close to what the VD shows.

That's fine I'm still not big on using it . Use it all u want , I personally don't want to use it. Like I said I have access to a dyno and that's what I'd rather use.

If I didn't have access to a dyno I'd prob use it, but I do . It's a good tool to see if your making an increase in power , but I have the ability to strap down. so is rather do that.

And weight.

With my gf in the car last night, i only made over 500 on one pull. I have video of it too, i'll post it up later this week.

Kmac, it's certainly just a tool, but it's an accurate one when used properly. Definitely more variables than the rollers, but it does a great job of not only showing gains from new hardware and tweaks to the tune, but also showing instantaneous power for a given pull. I think it's awesome honestly, but i also want a real dyno plot to back it up, just like you.

Shit is just for fun more than anything.

I'll give it a shot once I get my clutch issue resolved. I'm curious to see how the numbers match up to what we did on the dyno. I am guessing the street loading has been producing more then the dyno showed all along.... and certainly more the last couple of weeks. Like everybody said, just another tool.

And it isn't like strapping on the dyno is irrefutable anyways. Hell I have already read "I can't believe anybody is taking this seriously with john involved" about my dynos from somebody who is well respected, so it is all just what it is. And it isn't like numbers don't change from one dyno to the next.

Dustin, how are you supplementing fuel?

Same way as everyone else... meth.

I also got my injectors cleaned before i put them in this motor, so they only have 1200 miles on them. The guy at the injector rx place said he sees like 10+% gains in flow just from cleaning.... so i'm sure that's helping a bit. I tuned another local who's flowing like 390 g/s on a t3 3076 with a big a/r and no meth (mfquint) and he's completely out of fuel... to the point where he was leaning out to mid 12's on the dyno.

the meth works well but it seems like such a bandaid. I'm working on a fuel system now just because there r too many possibilities of failure depending on it. Extra fuel cell in the trunk , external pump , inj and a driver.

Meth is definitely a band aid... and i hate it lol. I went to the track shortly after getting the tune decently dialed, and had my solenoid stop opening on me the second run. I was seeing like mid to high 12 afr's, and fuel pressure tanking, and quite a bit of kr, like 3's, 4's, 5's.... pretty much worst case scenario when you factor in 150+ BATs. I've been running like 1.5-2 gal e85 just for the octane, and that, along with kr, are probably only things that kept detonation at bay.

I hate being dependent on meth. Feel like such an addict.

Guess I am still holding out hope that there will be hardware/software solutions to help out the in place fueling solution soon.

Kmac, that's the exact same route I'm going in.

We can talk more at the dyno day.

I use it on the same road with the same weight in the car and that way I can quantify differences between tunes. And qualify my butt dyno.

I tell everyone I tune this. Meth system as we buy them (DO or snow performance) are not automotive grade in terms of supplying fuel. They are just not designed to last and perform at the same level as a fuel system needs.

Solution I will probably go with is to run the 400 HP tune on the street (with port injected meth disconnected) and only use the port injection for dynos and track. I mean the 500+ is fun as hell but completely unnecessary. I will say I have heard "is that even drivable?" Yes it is. A little challenging, but very driveable.

1.09 CF is what is used when DynoJet is selected. The reason for this is an average of a lot of dynojet pulls were taken and that average came out and it makes the numbers match SEVERAL dyno pulls that have been compared in the past year.

If you want to use 1.01 thats fine but the 1.09 CF matches most Dynojets that have been compared on several other forums.

1.09 makes me feel warm inside.... but shit, i'm even content with the 1.01 numbers lol. Problem for me is that our dynojets read so flipping high with SAE, cause we're at 5500 ft. So neither 1.01 or 1.09 will be anywhere near the number it gives with cf...

When i dyno (soon hopefully), i'll post up some comparisons between the various custom CF's on VD and my uncorrected #'s on the rollers.

You can account for occupant weight in VD. It's one of the configurable parameters. The vehicle curb weight is preset based on manufacturer data, but it too can be adjusted for those who have added lightness and weighed their car.

If you want to use 1.01 thats fine but the 1.09 CF matches most Dynojets that have been compared on several other forums.

FWIW my real DJ dyno vs. VD comes out to 1.09 @ 400 ASL

I need to take log run and plot it in VD, just for the hell of it. Only time I've ever run on a dyno was pre-tuned, so it will be an interesting comparison.

I wonder if it's accurate enough to weigh your GF.

I've been thinking about this honestly.... and as long as it's done on the same road, in a gear with traction, and back to back (for same temps), i think it would work just fine honestly.

I can set you up with a couple other maps i guess and we could try, hahaha.

It's quick to call my bullshit. I took a log this morning to see how my tune was dealing with lower temperatures (50amb this morning) and it said 440wtq/420whp and I was like, WTF this is a load tune. Then I remembered I still have my stickies on from this weekend, corrected the tire dia, and I am right back to the 390/370. I bet with a good load tune you could actually evaluate weight changes by doing a before/after and matching the curves using weight.

BTW load tune worked great, going to give it a bit more leash so it can target higher loads up top if the cool weather permits, dropped ~1psi in boost up top to compensate for the 20deg lower temps.
