(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hey guys I tried using the search tool and it jumps all over my s8+ plus screen. So to make it easier, and i don't believe I was able to find anything related to the topic. Are there any suggestions or ideas of some nice sounding mufflers to add to a straight pipe system. Don't want anything to take, but wouldn't mind a little bit of sound control, and when i say alil, I mean minimal. Suggestions would be welcome, thanks guys.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well it wouldn't be straight pipes anymore now would it? I think I've heard some people having luck with a magnaflow muffler.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Correct it would no l0nger be so, but is at the moment. I am looking for something to add to it to muffle it just a tad, and add just alil bit of back pressure, cause I feel like 3inch all the way back to dual straught outlets is losing more then I gain. Maybe if I was on a gt30 or larger turbo it would be ok, but I feel like I lost alil to much back pressure, where it robbed my low end torque some for gains at top end. I'd rather have both with a nice tone, which if it was just a single outlet maybe thatd work. But ignoring i just said that, just curious of any particular muffler preferences out there that sound nice on our vehicles.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well my boost dropped alil bit when I installed the straight pipes, because it's now making the same power at a slightly lower boost level. With the lack of back pressure at top end it's great, but at low end it seems to have lIl lack of throttle response. And from all the different articles written on exhaust sizes, turbo back pressure, to much too little, from what im thinking im feeling to what I have read seems pretty similar. Now if I was rolling a big ass turbo the lack of back pressure would prolly be alil better because it's pushing so much more out the back. The CS turbo though I feel needs some amount of back pressure to create and balance pressure on both sides of the turbo because it's not flowing as much as the 3076....maybe I'm wrong, in my mind and on paper it makes sense to me. Although none of this was the purpose of this post. I was just wondering what mufflers people are running, and what some of the best or better sounding ones are.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score @Fstrnyou have you had your 6 dynod, I just saw your signature is very similar to mine in some respects. I haven't been able to get mine on the dyno yet. I just ordered my 3inch CS intake and am going to have Will at PD tuning do a retune to account for the new maf size and all, right now I'm maxed on g/sec at about 22 psi, he said with a 3inch i should be good unless I plan on going to a bigger turbo.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have not been to the dyno, nor do I plan to. I don't particularly care what the "real" number is. I do Vdyno runs at the same spot every time and record temperatures and how much fuel I'm carrying strictly for the purposes of comparisons. It is what it is. If your boost dropped with better flowing exhaust, you are likely load tuning. More flow makes more power, so the ECU pulls WGDC to keep your loads in check. Turbos operate off of pressure differential. Pressure in the manifold is higher than pressure in the downpipe, and therefore you get flow across the turbine wheel which makes it spin...etc etc. The higher the pressure differential, the faster the air will flow across the turbine wheel and in turn a faster spool. Because there is faster flow going by the turbine wheel, the manifold pressure may be slightly lower as well. So now the piston isn't having to work as hard to push exhaust out. Yadda yadda. There is more to it than that, but that's the gist of it. Scavenging doesn't really play a role in turbo cars because the turbo itself gets in the way by creating a flow restriction very close to the exhaust ports. FYI, my Vdyno says 295 hp @ around 17psi I think. It's tapering to 17ish from 18ish, but I don't recall the exact psi. I haven't vdynod since around april/may timeframe.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yea i figured you would get that it was load based tuning by what I said. Although from the seat of the pants dyno it seems the drop in psi was noticeable. Even though theoretically i should be making the same power as I was before now the engine and turbo dont have to work as hard to create it. And im not tuning my car, Will at PD tuning is, and i believe he is using load based. They got rid of the free tuning software before I bought my v3 now you have to do dumb shit to get a copy. Also, I lost my Vdyno when I upgraded my firmware version on the accessport...kinda fucken pissed me off, I had no idea that I was going to lose Vdyno. And i also understand you don't care much about actual dynoing...it was just a statement as to the fact we had very similar setups and would be interested in knowing what the comparable numbers were...like i said i can't even check on my Vdyno cause they stole it from me. Well thanks for the input bud, have a good one, hope everyones speeds are treating them well.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I don't have a 6, but I let my nephew weld a flowmaster 10 series on my 3... It sounded nice and grumbly. I now have a magnaflow resonator. It makes less noise, but still had a nice deep tone. Fapped over pictures of Laguna Seca

| Not Ranked : 0 score Power gain by adding a little backpressure is a myth that ought to be dispelled. Low end torque does not increase by adding backpressure. If you see less boost with a more open exhaust, it is because the turbo is having to work less hard to achieve the same target load. That means you have a little more headroom and could probably pick up power, not by adding backpressure, but by raising the load limits in your tune, if you can do so and keep everything safe. FWIW: For low restriction mufflers or resos, the answer is usually Magnaflow or Vibrant.

Basically anything that gives the exhaust a cone shape in some key points will kill the annoying sound. If you can source a known to be good resonator such as Vibrant or Magnaflow then go for it.
