And when I was going up hill I was in 2nd gear about to shift into 3rd not even PART throttle then it went to hell. So, I don't see why people are complaining saying oh you probably didnt haven internals or an upgraded pump, or you put to much load on it.

That's like saying for the guys that dont have modded speeds and they are just normal driving yall calling them out on it saying they did something wrong. But nope I actually was driving it normal shifting normal and everything. Like the people say "it was destined to happen" yeah cause this car is a POS, why couldn't mazda speed the extra cash and just build it forged for us? The world will never know.

Till then i'm saving for Internals and Install fees.

What doesn't make sense is thats its almost impossible to be less then part throttle, pegging out your boost guage, AND preparing to shift into 3rd. That whole statement can't happen all at once. Impossible cause I've swung my boost gauge around the clock in 2nd gear before you and best believe i was full throttle. Manual BC MAYBE would get you to 10-15 psi part throttle in second gear MAYBE.

What you don't understand is the situtaion with the MBC, I had it set at 18psi (in freezing weather) then the next morning it was super hot out, MBC tends to act retarded if not set everyday.

I had it 14clicks over for 18psi the night i was messing with it, the next morning i didnt pay no mind to it. well 14clicks over in the hot weather is apperntly more than 18psi

and why do you think a part throttle would only get me 10-15 psi? did you see my gauge rise up did you see what i seen? nope, so before you try to bash me on something i did wrong know the shit.

But then again, if I was laloosh or darksun people would be all on my dick saying "OMG NO WTF BUT WHY"

so you were 10-15psi going up hill? thats putting to much load on the engine, i dont even boost uphill if i have to i downshift and rip it

what you don't get through your thick skull is that you said you were less then part throttle which isn't possible to get that kinda spike or load. You were going up a hill with more throttle then you should have at the wrong speed. And the mere fact you said you were getting ready to shift into third its IMPOSSIBLE you had that load at that speed with out being more on the gas. And don't school me on how a MBC works I had the same exact one you had long before you had it.

yeah have to agree the car can tell not exact boost but it can tell when load is through the roof by load based equations im guessing and throw the cut. sometimes.....

The MBC allowed for him to boost what we concluded was over 35 psi (judging that it peaked the gauge and if you do your estimates, you get 35psi.). Now, we were cruising on the freeway to our shop and along the way of course doing a few pulls. Tim does a few runs and notices the car is extremely fast. Now the fact that the weather here has been 30-50 for the last week and we put the meth on in that weather, that days temp was aprox 80deg, so of course in his head, he thinks its the meth doing its job and really shining with the higher temp'ed weather. So, lets re cap before continuing, 3 pulls (im assuming 4th thru 5th) and on the 3rd (or 4th, I don't remember which he said) he glanced at the gauge and noticed it (the peaking of the gauge) and had stopped the aggressive driving. He said during this he thought he had felt some vibrations, but he thought he had tapped over the vibration strip on the side of the freeway and just felt those vibs, but it was quickly gone (don't know if that is related to the problem or he just hit the strip lol). We get to our exit in the next few minutes and cruise a few blocks. From there we do about 4 miles at 45mph, just cruising. From a stop light, I have a moderate incline bridge here that we go over, he was in 3rd or 4th going over it and boosted in. He said he glanced at the gauge to make sure it wasn't over boosting, and saw 12-14psi. Normally going over this bridge from the red light, I come near 13-14 psi on the speeds with the upped boost @ 18-19psi (at full boost), in order to keep up (or ahead ) of traffic. From there, he experiences what he thought was a clutch malfunction, he could feel heavy vibrations in the clutch, and immediately pushed it in and got into neutral, we coasted the crest of the bridge and at the bottom, he shut it down (ran about 25 seconds since problem was noticeable) and we were there stopped. I have been thinking over the possible items with other builders and friends. A popular theory we have is that the crank play was there and it could have spun a bearing (on the rod) and created more play in the crank. Ken and I talked for a few hours on the matter, he told me of a speed 6 with vibes in the clutch (all similar problems to ours) and said the dealer replaced tons of stuff and ended up just replacing the block, because the play on the shaft they measured at the crank pulley was out of spec, since then, no problems.

When starting the car, (which we did once, so I could hear where it was coming from, ran about 3 seconds) it makes a Metal vs. Metal Tap. Aprox 1 tap per revolution of 1 rod.

Now, I think Tim not only posted here to tell everyone of his day, which was a hell of a day, but to find some insight to what happened with his vehicle. I would really like some positive input here on what you guys think the possible problems are. We don't have much time to play with the car, as not only is it a daily driver, but one of our popular M3M cars here.

We were exploring a complete bottom end (built of course) to replace this one, due to the fact that so many things could have gone wrong here. Bent Rod, Rod Bearing Failure, CrankShaft walking - leading to many other possible problems, etc etc etc.

I thought it would be good for all of us if I posted all of this info, I know alot were asking for a more in depth explanation anyway .

depends, could just be a spun bearing. a bent rod banging around in the block should sound like hitting the block with a hammer, two solid metal somethings banging together. a spun bearing can sound like nails on a chalkboard as the motor turns over, or a really loud tapping, like banging a strip of sheet metal on the block.

I believe it. He said he was 15 clicks over 18psi. 15-16 clicks get you to stock boost with the BC he has in his weather. That makes for a total of about 36 -38 clicks MINIMUM. I run 28-32 for the most part and that gets me to 23-25 psi depending on weather BUT I have a high and low boost switch. No sympathy for this guy people he got what he was looking for.

yeah its kinda true, what can i say? i was boosting no higher than 10psi maybe sometimes 13psi. so i put the controller back on and tuned it to 17psi and was fine the night before it hit 30plus, now when i get a new motor im going standback PnP fuck that stupid MBC bull allways messes up in diff weather temps

He just may have gotten a little to optomistic with his boost in search of a victourias race witch you have done the same thing turning your boost up crazy high to beat Laloosh.. He was not looking to blow his motor on purpoose...

ok question how did i get what i was looking for? i had it set at 17psi didnt realize it shot up passed 30psi. its a mistake. i bet if it was your buddy laloosh you'd be all up on his shit saying "aw man im sorry to hear that you over boosted what a shame man im sooooo sorry"

You guys gotta realize that turning up the boost after a certain point Nets NOTHING but heat and torque. little known fact when I turned up the boost to beat chris I was on the dyno already and dyno'd the same 319 as the pull before it just more TQ. My IC wouldn't support anymore power. Thats ONE run on a dyno. Not multipul pulls on the street on a motor that was probably hurt already then trying to go up a hill in 3rd or 4th gear and boosting 35psi+. PLUS I've had Meth for the last 7-8 months unlike the OP PLUS I have a low boost switch. Im not always on full kill like a single stage MBC would leave you.

Your telling me not to hate on him cause he was doing exactly what I have done but fact is he's not.
