Can anyone id this engine sound? Thx 1 Attachment(s) Can anyone id this engine sound? Started a couple of days ago but gotten louder. Haven't made it to the shop yet. No codes or loss of power or increase /decrease in sound at speeds. Thanks. |
So, are are you taking it to a shop or fixing this yourself? If this were my car, I'd take the belt off and start it and see what you hear. Noise gone = something run by the belt needs help. Or you may more clearly hear that it's the timing chain flopping around. Or does the noise change when you actuate the clutch? |
don't have a garage so diy is not an option. I did not hear the noise change nor is there any discernable effect on driving - drives the same as before, the rpm's don't bounce, idle is steady. thx |
Can you do any work or diagnosis at home? If not, your best bet is a shop. Not much us keyboard wrenchers can do about a noise from this far in cyberspace. |
ac compressor, in case anyone is curious. thanks for entertaining the post. |
No no, thank you for using facebook to figure out the noise :smashfreakB: |
I've got the same noise. Had the AC compressor replaced at the end of last summer, the damn thing has already crapped out again. |
