(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So a little bit of background info since ive owned the car its had this weird rattle while the AC is on, never consistent unless the wheel was turned to one side. Never thought much of it and never got it checked out like a dumbass. Now i recently did a 6 hour trip to virginia and after getting there it has starting making a noise similar to that rattle ( i want to say it sounds like the chain but im no mechanic) at time of crank for about 3 seconds, after this u can only hear it slightly when rev matching at low rpm or when taking off on 1st. Now fast forward to about 2 weeks after returning from the trip and the CEL finally came up so i scheduled for it to be looked at. They pull the cel and say it could be a head gaskit or some shit. Unfortunately i bought my car at a used honda dealership with an extended warramty ( GWC ) and they suck, but they said it would be going to the mazda shop since they arent really capable of diagnosing it. Just wondering if any of this points to one obvious culprit/ if anyone has any info to chime in please do so. I know i shouldhave gotten this looked at much sooner but its my only car and i have 2 kids so please spare me on the flaming . Thanks! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score p0126 looks like thermostat, then again you could have googled just like I did. Your startup noise is the classic timing chain noise.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The fix for the CEL is way easier than the fix for the timing chain noise. There might be some cleaning stuff you can do to alleviate the problem but most people replace the chain, tensioner, and lots of other things. Your question about the CEL, though, leads me to believe you haven't done much mechanicking and if that is the case you need to pay someone to fix that. When you get quotes don't let someone tell you that you only need to replace one part or some shit, make sure they are going to switch all these parts in this kit: Mazda OEM VVT Replacement Kit Mazdaspeed 3 / Mazdaspeed 6 If you car is eligible for the PCV fix you should have gotten that done which probably includes the new valve cover that helps/fixes this issue. I'm not sure if you can still get it done...
