Default clean throttle body

Can someone please provide me with a detailed description on how to locate and clean a 2008 speed 3 throttle body. I have searched YouTube and have found nothing?
Thanks

In all seriousness, if you cannot find your car's throttle body, you probably shouldn't be trying to clean it.

i agree with the above

and if you are chasing a car problem, you won,t solve it for cheap by cleaning your throttle.... more chances that you make it even worst.

Why do you want to clean it? FYI just follow the output side hose from the intercooler. It attaches to the throttle body. If you are not throwing a code, I suggest you leave it alone.

General PM...not my car, so I'm not familiar with it....with attitudes like this I'm glad I don't have to deal with this forum. Porsche and Lexus are much more civilized. But you do get what you pay for.

I'm going to quote myself, as what I said in my original response post is generally applicable to every gasoline-powered vehicle out there, whether it be a Porsche, a Lexus, a Mazda, or a freaking Yugo.

"In all seriousness, if you cannot find your car's throttle body, you probably shouldn't be trying to clean it."

It doesn't matter that you're not familiar with the car. If you can't look at an engine, find the intake tract, and discern which bit of it is the throttle body, then you shouldn't be working on the car. Moreover, your evident lack of automotive/mechanical knowledge also suggests that you don't understand for what, if any, reason the throttle body might need cleaning. This makes me (and I'm sure, others here as well) question what you might do in any attempt to clean a car's throttle body; whether you would use an appropriate solvent, whether you would properly protect the engine while cleaning and afterwards, and so forth. Again, it doesn't sound like you should be touching the car at all, much less dismantling part of the sensor and actuator suite controlling the engine.

well, before blaming us, just step back and think about your question...

We gave polite advice to save you further problems. If peoples from Porsche or Lexus aren,t doing it, i.m glad to be part of a better forum.

you dont need to be a full time mechanic to work on a car but i have seen so much wrong being done by peoples attempting to work by themselves that i had no choice to warn you. even on youtube there is a lot of wrong videos and advices....

in a logic order of difficulty and risks, figuring where is the tb would be few steps easier than being able to clean it....it would probably take less time to figuring out where it is on an unknown engine than it would take to register to a forum and ask...

we also felt free to ask you why you wanna do it, because there is some sayings about cleaning a tb to solve any problems when it often don,t do much and could mess the learning curve of the ecu....all this if you don,t break anything while doing it.

Sir, I answered your question honestly and directly. Please get down off your high horse and just listen to people and not draw conclusions.

We don't have throttle body problems on this engine. Very low occurrence rate, at least not without throwing a CEL code.

The guys here are seriously, deeply into pushing the limits of these cars. The knowledge base about these cars is the most robust on the planet. There is, however, a tendency to look askance at someone who does not know where to locate the throttle body on a modern engine of any make or model. That would cause one to pause about the degree of "grease under the fingernails" experience of someone wanting to service the throttle body.

It does not help your cause to start throwing around other forums of supposedly more civilized user groups. FWIW, I do currently drive a bought new by me '17 low 12 second Audi, but that does not make me better than anyone else. The Audi user groups I participate in are no different that this one in terms of alleged "civility."

You asked for help, receive it, didn't like the "way" we provide the help, and then engage in ad hominem attacks on us. And somehow, we are the problem?

Sounds like you've been consuming "snowflake" pills. I am sorry that I may have offended your delicate sensibilities.

I came across this thread as I am having issues with my 2007 MS3 taking a long time to start (3-7 secs). After checking the battery the two most common solutions are cleaning the erg and throttle body. This thread wasn't quite what I was looking for, but valuable nonetheless. As someone put it, I don't have a lot of grease under my nails, so I take it that this is not something a novice mechanic should take on?

How old and how many miles are on your plugs?

With what plugs and at what gap? Might not be your problem, but it matters for many issues, including hard starting.

When diagnosing a problem start with the obvious and simple and work to the less likely and complex.

You have either weak spark or improper fueling.

Does it run fine, including pedal to the floor to redline once it starts, or do you encounter any misfires or other problems when the engine is under load?

Seems to run fine other than the starting, but I haven't pushed it too hard recently. I installed NGK LASER IRIDIUM Spark Plug ILTR6A-8G with a .028 gap.

That is the correct stock plug replacement, but the gap is a little large, and by now they may have opened up a bit. I doubt it would resolve your issue, but they should be gapped more like .026". The .002" difference would not account for the hard starting.

Next question: Is the hard starting only on a cold engine, or is this even when restarting a fully warmed up engine?
