| Not Ranked : 0 score Idk where you at, but in pa a not ready monitor does not constitute a fail. It means your car is not ready and is neither a pass nor fail. I'm not too suree about the drive cycles needed to make evap ready, I know it consists of more than just putting on a few miles though. Hope any of that helped. |

Will scanning for codes with AP tell me if something is not ready, cause its not actually throwing any codes. Cliff notes? I will have to print that and try to make sense of it. I fell I met all the requirement. I loaded map in RI. Drove home, which is ~130miles. Car sat and was driven short distances here and there over a week. Then I took to get emissions tested. Thanks.

I could understand this if I was getting a code, but the only code I pulled was P0234 engine overboost condition. So still not sure if the EVAP system is ready yet. Guess I will just keep driving and hope I dont get pulled over.

Maybe I can get them to check it before the test but doubt they will. I just dont want to fail and have to pay $20 again. I just wish I could check to see if EVAP system is ready.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well not being ready does not equal fail, and you shouldn't be charged again. However keep in mind, everything I'm saying is in reference of pa, so I am sure some things are different. Also, I think obd2 emmissions tests do not include a sniffer, once again, in pa lol. Sorry I can't help you more |

| Not Ranked : 0 score OB2 emission test don't require sniffer, unless in California I believe. Like everyone said not ready doesnt mean something is wrong it just means your vehicle hasn't ran the test. Make sure your car has a full tank of gas. It makes the test go faster because it has to pressurize the system. After a short drive turn the car off and leave the key in the on position. I have had that help on some of the vehicles I have worked on. That normally is the hardest test to pass, and don't clear your fault memory because it will reset all of your ready status's. | Not Ranked : 0 score In CT if ur car is newer than 01 u can have 1 monitor not ready an pass. They don't check gas caps on OBD tests. They don't use a sniffer so no worries about that. To set EVAP make sure u have between 1/4 and 3/4 tank of gas or it'll never complete. I do emissions testing in CT so any ? I should be able to answer. They give u 60 days to go back for a free retest. If monitors still aren't ready it aborts and u don't get charged unless ur late.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yes. They're scanners go deeper than the ap can mask. Essentially ap only ride you of the cel. That's why all I did was un-plug my egr connector. Now when I go for emissions, I plug it in and pass.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Maybe Cobb can do something where it will force the ready codes on after like 5 drive cycles or something like that. I don't think it's beyond their ability. Right now I only have 2 codes checked off. It will be interesting to see if we can make a list of what codes affect which readiness monitor. I think its safe to say that we all have just about the same test. More than 1 not ready is a fail.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So I ended up having to install my EGR tube to pass. Still had evap not ready. No CEL so I dont get it. If I have to go thru this again I am just having a shut off valve welded into EGR tube as its a PITA to put it back in and remove it. At least I am finally legal again after 2 years. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score You gotta have between 1/4 and 3/4 tank of gas or the monitor will never set. I'm not sure what the drive cycle is for evap. You can always call Mazda and I'm sure they can tell you.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hmm, ok. I drive 100+ miles a day for work so, im filling up every 3 days or so. Gas never goes below 1\4 tank. Ill have to call mazda and see. I shouldve checked the resistance while i had it out too, could be the valve isnt working due to some sort of failure.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Welp Im up for emissions again by the 18th so hope I can pass this time. My CEL is P0401 (EGR) so guess I never unchecked it or something when I reloaded a map. Put in a new purge valve and swapped gas caps. We will see....

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you put the key in the ignition and put it to run without turning the car on your CEL will turn on. Keep an eye on it if it starts flashing after 30 sec or so the monitors are not ready. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
