Default Failed emiisions due to EVAP system not ready

I flashed a stg 2 OTS map to my car. The only change I made was to uncheck P0401. I failed emissions because EGR not ready and Evaporative system not ready. I drove over 100 miles after flashing so I would have expected things to be up and running. I checked and p0441, p0442, p0443, p0446, p0455, p2401, p2402, p2404, p2405, p2407 are all checked.

So how can I check to see if I just needed to drive further to get EVAP ready? How can I check if EVAP system is not ready like they do?

Idk where you at, but in pa a not ready monitor does not constitute a fail. It means your car is not ready and is neither a pass nor fail. I'm not too suree about the drive cycles needed to make evap ready, I know it consists of more than just putting on a few miles though. Hope any of that helped.

No, the test results just had Evaporation System not ready and EGR system not ready. I just made sure that all the EVAP codes were checked in the map I loaded.
Will scanning for codes with AP tell me if something is not ready, cause its not actually throwing any codes.

Thanks.

Im in CT. Fail if more than 2 systems not ready. I have EGR delete so I removed the check mark for p0401, so not suprised I got that not ready. I can go get it retested for free, I just want to make sure that the EVAP system is ready next time I go. I have 60 days, but my emissions was due in 2010 so I am actually illegal and want to resolve that ASAP.

Only thing I set as not ready is the EGR. So test showed EGR not ready and EVAP not ready.

I could understand this if I was getting a code, but the only code I pulled was P0234 engine overboost condition.

So still not sure if the EVAP system is ready yet. Guess I will just keep driving and hope I dont get pulled over.

Did they hook your gas cap up to the tester? If its bad they normally ask you if you wanna replace it on the spot.

I dont think so. I dont know that they can do that in CT. I think they just hook up the OBD to the tester and run the car. I assume they also hook up a sniffer on the exhaust, but did not see any readings for that. You should have seen the cloud of smoke after he brought car back as he had it ideling for so long. My turbo has never smoked, but it did after the test...

Maybe I can get them to check it before the test but doubt they will. I just dont want to fail and have to pay $20 again. I just wish I could check to see if EVAP system is ready.

Well not being ready does not equal fail, and you shouldn't be charged again. However keep in mind, everything I'm saying is in reference of pa, so I am sure some things are different. Also, I think obd2 emmissions tests do not include a sniffer, once again, in pa lol. Sorry I can't help you more

OB2 emission test don't require sniffer, unless in California I believe. Like everyone said not ready doesnt mean something is wrong it just means your vehicle hasn't ran the test. Make sure your car has a full tank of gas. It makes the test go faster because it has to pressurize the system. After a short drive turn the car off and leave the key in the on position. I have had that help on some of the vehicles I have worked on. That normally is the hardest test to pass, and don't clear your fault memory because it will reset all of your ready status's.

Was the car hot? How long had you driven it before the test? If its not up to operating temp, it can screw with the test.

In CT if ur car is newer than 01 u can have 1 monitor not ready an pass. They don't check gas caps on OBD tests. They don't use a sniffer so no worries about that. To set EVAP make sure u have between 1/4 and 3/4 tank of gas or it'll never complete. I do emissions testing in CT so any ? I should be able to answer. They give u 60 days to go back for a free retest. If monitors still aren't ready it aborts and u don't get charged unless ur late.

Since the computer monitors EVAP only 95 and older get a gas cap/tailpipe test.

So unchecking the codes in ATR will keep the related component in "not ready" ?

Yes.
They're scanners go deeper than the ap can mask.
Essentially ap only ride you of the cel.
That's why all I did was un-plug my egr connector.
Now when I go for emissions, I plug it in and pass.

Maybe Cobb can do something where it will force the ready codes on after like 5 drive cycles or something like that. I don't think it's beyond their ability.

Right now I only have 2 codes checked off. It will be interesting to see if we can make a list of what codes affect which readiness monitor.

I think its safe to say that we all have just about the same test. More than 1 not ready is a fail.

My speed density and maf values don't add up from the Tial Q valve. If I engine brake for more than 5 seconds in 2 drive cycles it sets it off.

So I ended up having to install my EGR tube to pass. Still had evap not ready. No CEL so I dont get it. If I have to go thru this again I am just having a shut off valve welded into EGR tube as its a PITA to put it back in and remove it. At least I am finally legal again after 2 years.

Regarding this. I had p401 pop up. Cleaned the egr tube and valve, no cel after 1200 miles, but evap system shows not ready still. Shouldnt it only take a hundred or so miles before its back in the ready state?

You gotta have between 1/4 and 3/4 tank of gas or the monitor will never set. I'm not sure what the drive cycle is for evap. You can always call Mazda and I'm sure they can tell you.

Hmm, ok. I drive 100+ miles a day for work so, im filling up every 3 days or so. Gas never goes below 1\4 tank. Ill have to call mazda and see. I shouldve checked the resistance while i had it out too, could be the valve isnt working due to some sort of failure.

Welp Im up for emissions again by the 18th so hope I can pass this time. My CEL is P0401 (EGR) so guess I never unchecked it or something when I reloaded a map. Put in a new purge valve and swapped gas caps. We will see....
