Fuel/oil additives

*I'm sure there is a thread out there for this already, but I haven't been able to find any large discussions of it yet. If I overlooked it I apologize and please point me in the right direction *

I have heard a lot of mixed opinions in reference to using seafoam and other additives in the fuel, booster, and oil and I am just curious if anybody has had any positive or negative results they could share? One reputable contact I often use told me that additives like that don't do much for our cars because of the direct injection and supposedly narrow passageways that don't react well to additives. Others have said that additive are super helpful in terms of restoring lost performance in an older/higher mileage engine.

My biggest goal is to get my engine as healthy as possible. I have a 2009 speed3 with 113k miles, and am in the midst of heavy modding and want to make sure everything is as clean and healthy as possible.

Any advice/information is much appreciated, thank you!

I'm gonna physically clean my valves, soon. But I'm talking more in terms of whether or not additives in the fuel or oil are worth doing. With my last car, an 8th Gen si, running redline fuel additive through it was a huge improvement and shot out tons of gunk and smoke in the process. Just curious if it's the same case with our cars, or different as I have heard haha

In a direct injection application fuel additives won't do anything because the fuel is being sprayed directly into the combustion chamber and does not wash over the intake runners and valves as it does in a multi-point injection system.

So like I said. Clean the valves via walnut media blasting, and then spray meth to keep them clean with the added benefit of lower BATs and moar power.

I was planning on working in an e85 tune but I could look more into meth as opposed to that. That's pretty off topic so we don't have to get into that here, but I am curious of the benefits of meth over an e85 mixture.

meth won't limit oem injector max flow like E85 would do by making your engine more fuel angry but it may be less reliable if you just buy a normal kit without safe protection for it.

additive in oil/fuel to me is doing more in the head of the user than it really do for the engine. Among results, it may be silicone film stuck into HLA reducing the oil pressure in it and valve lift. depot inside the engine. Probleme with fuel pump/injectors etc. Big waste of money. Better purchase very good synthétic oil and change it very often.

For the valves, meth good oil and non leaking turbo is probably the only solution without removing the IM to anually clean thems.

Meth helps just a little but oil additives in the oil are more important.
