Probably, with no one else making them they prolly don't feel too rushed. I vote corksport and jbr race to see who makes them first, winner gets the customers :p

For the record, I want them under the hood AND on the shifter itself.
Full metal. It's a shifter, not an engine bushing - fuck poly.

Agreed. Replacing them on the shifter only is only fixing half the problem. I'd maybe be in if they were shifter only, but I'd be sold if it were a full set. Corksport always makes nice stuff. I'd be in.

I am.

I don't want to be the one that poops on the parade here but shifter cable bushings cannot be made for the cables in our car. Sandwiching a bushing between the cable and the attachment bracket also yielded no improvement in gate slop. In fact it made gate alignment and entry more difficult because the cables were not allowed to pivot. The problem lies in the socket at the base of the shifter and this is where I've been focusing my attention. unfortunately, a solution for the stock setup looks bleak hence why TWM has developed a full replacement.

For reference, the slop in the GEN 1 shifter is much more significant then the GEN 2 and pretty equal to that of the MS6.

I'll keep looking at it though.

Thanks,
Jamie

You just shit on my heart, Jamie.

That does suck, though. Anything I can do to avoid further grinding.

Hmm... I have a Stage 1 TWM setup with your SSP and I noticed no change in lateral "Slop" over stock so... There's gotta be a common problem elsewhere.

I really hope we can find it and fix it man!

I've thought about shimming the plastic socket to remove some of the play but havn't gotten around to it.

Would Gen2 shifter parts (like the socket) retrofit to Gen 1 shifters?

The gen1 shifter must be really sloppy, because the gen2 shifter is nothing to write home about.

I wish we could swap in the Skyactiv-MT. Supposedly it feels like the MX-5 Miata shifter (solid, concise), and it's lighter too!

It really is man... I'd say I have almost a half inch of total lateral play when in 1st gear.

It's bad.

Most of my complaints went a way with jamies kit coupled with a heavy knob. Still a lot of room for improvement though.

Ugh. I hate heavy shift knobs. IMHO, a truly good shifter should have a precise, mechanical feel and be very lightweight. I want to be able to feel exactly when the transmission goes into the next gear.

I would be curious to see if their findings are the same as Jamie's.

Can't we just steal them from another application based on the ID/OD?

They dont list a Eclipse that I see. The ball joint type pivot is very common in oem applications, it would simply be a matter of matching the cable length and using a adapter plate on the trans side and swapping the entire shifter assembly over.

Any difference in cable travel can be made up for on the trans end.

Couldn't we basically replace the cable ends with heim joints and bolt them down or?

Many times you can use the bushing from another application.. For example the Evo, eclipse, Mirage, Kia koup, and hyundai elantra, accent all use the same bushings.. Would be based on the ID on the cable ends and height of the bushing.

I'd be interested in these. After trans fluid and a heavy shifter knob, this is the only thing that I don't like about the shifter.

I tried one SSP once and hated it. I'd like a little shorter travel on my shifts, but not if it makes it feel like that SSP did.

I'm not entirely convinced. On a whim I took some video this evening to see what your SSP looks like when I'm shifting, and it appears that a large amount of the "slop" may be due to the transmission-end of things rather than the in-cabin end...see the video below.

I suspect that it's not (entirely) the in-cabin portion of the linkage...see the vid.

Priceless video man! Bravo! It's those damn balls and sockets that are killing us.

There's gotta be a way to fix that!

That definitely appears to be part of it. There's some play aside from those sockets too, though i suspect that if we can figure out a good way to eliminate some of the WIDE tolerances in those sockets it'll get a lot better.

Looks like a combo of the ends on the shifter and some of the tolerances in the gearbox giving the loose feeling in the shifter.

Could most of this likely be cured by tackling the project?

If it fits the MS6, I'm down.

It's a sloppy and imprecise feeling that would be great to get rid of.

My buddy has an Acura TL, also with a linkage trans, and he too had the same problem. His shifter had a ton of play in it when in gear. However, he bought hardened aftermarket linkage bushings for it and told me I had to come check it out...

No joke, it was night and day. The solid, tight, and precise new feel of his shifter motivated me to have someone build something similar for our cars.

I've contacted @CorkSport @CorkSport - Chris and told them this would be a GREAT addition to the SSPs and TWM setups we all have to take our shifter feel to the next level.

This would also be a fairly inexpensive mod with great benefits for everyone stock to fully built.

If we can show them there's an interest and desire in such a part, hopefully they'll step up to the plate and deliver!

So vote in the poll above and let's get this goin guys!

Thanks,
Alpha
Thanks for pushing this Alpha. The MS3 has one big problem and it's the shifter. I'm getting the full replacement TWM this summer (for me it's just a short drive away from my house), will this bushing be compatible with the TWM shifter assembly?

Any way, I love CS products. Some like the FMIC (and Ram Air FMIC) isn't a big winner but the rest is pretty good and the price is right. GO CS!

Sure thing man, I just hope a product comes from it.

I can't see a reason why a product like this wouldn't be compatifble with ANY shifter/SSP setup.
