Recently had an oil leak from the turbo not bad but wanted to replace it. Found an xspower header and ko4 turbo deal. Got it put on and now the car sounds off. Loud stutter when cold start and when revving it does the same not matter high or low rpm. When going into wot vehicl. struggle to make boost. Never had this problem until i had the replacement done. Help stuck this is my vehicle to get from point a to b.

I'm going to assume it's probably the Chinese ko4 you put in it.

I'm leaning heavy towards something wasn't hooked back up correctly...or at all.

Why was the exhaust manifold (header) replaced?

What other mods are on this car? Stock downpipe and cats? Stock ECU tune? Stock intake?

A leaking exhaust manifold either at the manifold to cylinder head side or at the turbo/downpipe side can account for the sputtering sound. Lots of potential reasons to not make proper boost.

Do you have a way to data log?

BTW: The dyno chart on the website for those headers, showing 316 whp and 363 torque is pure BS on an otherwise stock vehicle. That is a tuned engine running and holding 18 psi boost. It most probably has quite a few bolt-ons and may be running an ethanol blend. If that is a stock K04 it is maxed out with intake, probably aftermarket dp/rp catless or high flow cats and a custom AP or Versatune tune and upgraded high pressure fuel pump internals. It may have an upgraded turbo.

If you are expecting those numbers by bolting that manifold between the engine and a K04 on stock tune with stock downpipe and midpipe you are going to be sadly dissapointed. And, if it somehow raises boost to 18-19 psi, you will soon throw a piston through your block if you don't upgrade the fuel pump internals and get a tune that appropriately handles the increased flow.

There are several threads here about various versions of that manifold. Not very favorable. At your mod level (or any) it seems to not be producing any meaningful gains.

But, you need to get back up and going. Looks like you are going to need to carefully check the manifold for gasket leaks on both the cylinder head side and the turbo side.

My guess that the manifold and gaskets are not sealing for any one of several reasons. You may want to start over with new studs and nuts, new gaskets and torque properly. The manifold could be warped, too. You might want to put your stock manifold back on. Guys here are easily maxing out the K04 and also taking many other K04 flange turbos up to 400 whp on the stock exhaust manifold.

Where was your stock turbo leaking oil? Into the intercooler, into the exhaust, or on the ground? A new Chinese K04 might be beneficial, but I'd mount it on the stock manifold.

If that's all it was leaking oil from there was no need to replace the turbo.

What is your location? I live in Santa Cruz and work in South San Jose. I could swing by in the evening and have a look. Your money isn't needed. Bet I could track down the issue quickly.

List your SPECIFIC mods. You would greatly benefit from acquiring a Cobb AP or Versatuner and getting a custom or OTS tune from Stratified or Freektune. Your car will run much better and you will haz more boost!

Rockauto has them. I use the Beck Arnley ones.

You have to lower the subframe to get the bolt out on the front rear lower arms. Which one is incorrect? They're simple to change.
