Default just a note on internal wastegates and their wastegating power

Background: Running 3076r atp kit with iwg

So when I first got the kit, I couldn't run wastegate pressure because of boost creep. I would hit 14 psi then slowly creep up to ~20psi. That’s fine; I didn’t get the kit for less anyway. The reason for this creep is that the iwp hole cannot let enough exhaust gas go through which in turn spins the turbo more.

Once I got my tune down at 20psi, I was hitting it and holding it. The iwg was perfectly fine. It was also fine at 21 psi and 22 psi

Again, being bored with my tune, I up the boost to 24psi. This is where I ran into boost creep again. (28-30psi @ redline) "Why you no let enough exhaust through" I thought to myself. At a higher boost, less exhaust needed to be vented. Well, that’s true and false at the same time. At each point in time, the amount of gas needed to be vented is less as the psi you want to run increases. The time, however, also speeds up. Basically, as you make more boost, you also make more power. This extra power makes your car accelerate faster and your rpms climb faster as well. This increase in rpms causes exhaust to flow faster (obviously) and this is where the iwg again cannot vent enough exhaust gas and you get boost creep. Even worse, the more the boost creeps, the more power, the faster the acceleration, the faster exhaust gas, the faster it creeps again. It is exponential.

tl;dr
atp iwg is good for 20-22 psi but not more or less

I too have found the same. Creeps to 21, smooth out the boost and hold 21 perfect, then up the boost and want 24. Nope hows 26 says the turbo. This is the biggest downfall about these atp IWG turbos.

Note to self. Port the IWG before installing. All that time porting will save you triple the time in tuning. And keep your ass from puckering during unwanted creeping and spikes
