Default Looking for test cars... FREE or DISCOUNTED WOT BOXES

N2MB Racing wants YOU! ... to bring your car to Philadelphia, PA or Holiday, Florida to get a WOT Box installed!

Requirements:

1. Your car must be a car we don't already support.

Currently supported (or soon to be supported list):
  • Dodge Neon SRT-4
  • Dodge Caliber SRT-4
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
  • Subaru WRX
  • Mazda Speed 3
  • Mazda 3
  • Mazda Speed 6
  • Nissan 350Z
  • Infinity G35
  • Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged
  • Audi A4

2. Your car must be one we're interested in supporting. Sorry, 1985 Yugo owners.

Candidates of particular interest:
  • Mini Cooper S
  • Volkswagen GTi
  • Honda Civic Si
  • Other manual transmission cars, particularly those with turbocharged engines

Candidates we're not going to support:
  • 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS - already includes a 2-step launch control and no-lift shifting
  • Cars that already have a 2-step launch control or an inexpensive ECU flash that adds it

3. Your car needs to have the following hardware:
  1. Coil-on plug ignition - We are developing a generic 2-step software load that should work with nearly any engine with coil-on-plug ignition with built-in igniters. You can tell if your coil-on-plug ignition has built-in igniters if the coils have 3 or more wires at the connector.
  2. A throttle position sensor (or accelerator position sensor if your car is drive by wire) - Every car is going to have this.
  3. A clutch up switch - Any car that either has cruise control or had the option for cruise control will likely have this. A quick look under your dash will tell you if it is present or not. There will always be at least one switch on the clutch pedal for the starter safety interlock. We cannot use this switch because the signal comes too late during the shift. There should be a second switch that activates near the top of the clutch pedal travel. This is typically used to deactivate cruise control when the driver steps on the clutch. So far we have found this switch on every car we've looked at, so we suspect you will have this as well. If you don't have it, you could possibly add one, but it will be difficult to figure out how to mount it and secure it properly.

If your car meets the requirements and you can bring it to either of our locations, we will install a WOT Box on it either for FREE or at a significantly reduced price, depending on the relative popularity and demand for that particular car. If you aren't near either of our locations, contact us anyway and we'll see about shipping the WOT Box to you.

To sign up, email info@n2mb.com

Thanks!
-Jon

Yeah, that's a good point. I hadn't really thought of them much because they are supercharged and won't see as huge of gains. But, they should still get some gains since everyone gains some time from WOT Shifting... And everyone could use launch control to gain some time as well.

Thanks for the contact. I'll get that guy down here.

Update: We've changed the deal to FREE for all performance-oriented late model cars that meet our requirements.

If you can't make it to one of our shops for the install, then we can mail the WOT Box to you. You will need to leave a deposit so that we can ship it to you, but we will refund 100% of your purchase price (including shipping) if you send in the pictures and write-up within 45 days of purchase.

All you need to do is install the WOT Box on your car and send us detailed pictures and a short write-up that provides enough detail for other owners of your car to be able to do the install as well. We'll be available via phone and email to help with the install as much as we can. If you can email us wiring diagrams or service manuals, we can help even more.

Contact us for more details and to confirm your spot before purchasing.

That thread went nuts. I had a half a dozen emails looking to be the tester. I got a guy to come up last night and we installed the WOT Box on the Cobalt SS. It worked pretty nice....

hey phrozen, I've passed this on to my buddies at Audizine. I wish this had been available for my t3/t4 Audi A4 quattro. I could never launch it properly. I know more than a few of those guys would appreciate something like this.

Thanks, I received an email from one already. We'll see how it goes on there... We tested the generic coil-on-plug firmware last night on the Cobalt SS and it seemed to work really well. That means we should be able to take the same software to other coil-on-plug 4 cylinder cars and just plug it in and go. :-)

That's not a bad idea. I'll look into getting T-shirts from cafepress or something. How about something with the N2MB Racing logo? And a WOT BOX logo on there.... hehe...

I sent one WOT Box out to an Audi A4 guy. Haven't heard from him. The Cobalt SS installs are going well. I'm just trying to get the attention of an admin over on cobaltss.net so that I can become a vendor. It is really hard! No one responds to PMs or emails....

I believe it it is twoliterg60. I think he is still building up his car, so it might be a bit longer before he is done with the install.

I know of a few others that might be up for testing it. One mazdaspeed miata and a fully built protege5 and a mazdaspeed protege. Hit me up and I can get you the info.

Ok. Sounds good. We'll keep that in mind. We probably don't need another Speed6 tester, but we may want to test on a DSM.

For the diff controller, I think I will need a local speed6 to test on.

Hey Phrozen, I also have a buddy w/ a very modded 2nd gen eclipse gst converted to awd. He's running DSM link, alchy inj, and a borg warner 258 turbo. WOT shifting is his weakness. He says he has a 2 step on it but it never works right for him. I'm think this would be good for him. Should I put you two in contact?

I have a friend with a scion tc that I could probably talk into it. I'm not sure if they're 3 wire COPs, but I can have a looksy under his hood.

I should be getting mine on tonight, as long as the seemingly undercooked pork I just ate doesn't disagree with me too bad.

That's not so good.... Hmm... The worms shouldn't set in for a few days, so you should be fine to install it tonight....

I need to update this thread. We're going to open it up to anyone with a car of interest, anywhere. We now have access to wiring diagrams for pretty much any car made in the last 20 years, so we can provide directions that will tell you what wires you need to tap and where to find them. So anyone who is reasonably comfortable with automotive wiring should have no trouble completing the installation.

Also, we have a new software load that gets rid of the requirement for coil on plug ignition. Now you just need to have the clutch switch and the throttle sensor!

So, contact us if you have something we might be interested in putting a WOT Box on!
