Mazdaspeed 3 BCS broke help!

Hey guys I recently went to intall a cobb turbo inlet pipe and when i went to connect the little vacuum line to the nipple of the TIP, the vacuum line broke easily and took a little chunk of the nipple of the boost control solenoid. I did my best to put back on and when i started it up and drove around, I couldn't get more than 11 psi of boost and i usually get around 15-16 psi. So I took the little vacuum line off completely and it went back up to 15-16 psi. I was wondering is it REALLY necessary to replace the BSC because I'm not getting too much boost and my fuel pressure and ATF ratio is good too. I just have a Cobb TIP, Cobb intake, autotech hpfp, and a stage 1 map from my accessport. I don't plan on upgrading my turbo and I heard some people driving more than 20k miles with no vacuum line to the BSC and having no problems. Is it really necessary to replace it?

I'm confused. You broke the EBCS nipple for the bleed line to your TIP and got 11psi? Then you remove that hose...which is essentially the same thing, and now you get 15-16....?

Broken, removed, or whatever of the bleed line will maintain proper boost control, but your fuel trims will be fucked.

In other words.. Yes that nipple is important. Every nipple is important.

Know that if your EBCS nipple breaks, you can cause overboost.

Stock EBCS in this case:
Broken source line will overboost.
A broken bleed line will boost normal.

Sorry guys im a mess. I thought it was just the line at first but i checked it out and it was the nipple of the BCS too so I made a new post. But yes a little piece of the nipple of the BCS broke off and i tried to put the line back in and and i dont know how but i couldnt get more than 11psi of boost. When i took the line to the BCS completely off, then it went back up to normal psi around 15-16psi

And by fuel trims you mean the car running rich or lean right?

op, be carefull, breaking nipple may get costly!

If it is really the discharge from EBCS to TIH, it isn't that bad to drive few days without it. you have to temporary plug the TIH hole to avoid a leak at iddle for that side. And that little air wasted by the EBcS under full boost may not be a huge thing to drive your fuel trim crazy.


If it is any other connections between turbo and WG, then, you can overboost and break the engine....

OP, take up the offer for the free EBCS. Just be careful or you will break one off again. It is a common issue with many, many threads and posts here you might have found had you done a search.

The permanent fix is something like the Grimmspead EBCS. It is a drop in replacement that the OEM wire plug will fit. Its nipples are brass. Will not break. I like hard nipples.
