(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score The story goes that I took my car in over a year ago because someone backed into it, the insurance adjuster looked at the damage and noted the nitrous system in their report. The report isnt contestable, and my car hasnt been insured since 3/3/2011 because they never sent me a letter stating that they would not be automatically renewing my insurance. So I thought I was insured. Now my bank is mad at me... fuck my life lol.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Geico did that same thing to me...though, just randomly..no claim involved or anything. Sucks that you didn't know beforehand. A lot of insurance companies give you rate reductions just for signing up while you're already insured with someone else. Go through insurance.com. They get you close to the best deals you can find without the hassle of shopping for hours. I've been through them 3 times now & recommend them to everyone. The customer service has been excellent with all 3 random reps that I've worked with. Freakin painless. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Alright I figured out what the deal was. I took my car in about a year ago because some drunk navy boy hit my car while he was driving a rental and dented my car. The claims person that they sent to the body shop took pics of the three gauges in my in my gauge pod and took pics of the hose going to the intake for my boost gauge and determined that I had a nitrous kit installed. The underwriters claim that it doesnt matter if I had nitrous installed because even with the gauges, my car does not fit Geicos concept of a "Personal Automobile". The VIN # has been black listed forever and they will never insure that VIN # regardless of the owner. The good news is that this information is private to Geico and it is not on the publicly listed claims report.

I've always heard about Geico dropping people when they file claims though. This is just proof of how they do it. What does nitrous have to do with someone backing into you anyway??

| Not Ranked : 0 score That's some SERIOUS bullshit. I'd file a consumer reports complaint, write a NASTY letter to the president of GEICO, and maybe go public. Gauges are there to MONITOR engine performance, not change it. They help prevent problems and do NOT increase performance. Fucking idiots.

| Not Ranked : 0 score You're well within your rights to sue the shit out of them. They'd have to produce legal documentation of YOUR policy with YOUR siganture on it, stating that you agree that those exact gauges in your car are grounds for revocation of said policy. You just hit te jackpot my man. Congrats. I'm so excited for you. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have progressive and I have special insurance on my car. Iirc its called "stated amount". I have my car and its equipment and part insured up to 25k. So if the car gets stolen or hit they replace it with whatever I had in it. Aftermarket included. It would require an inspection periodically tho. But everything in my car is covered from theft or damage. Outside that the rest of the plan is like a typical plans that covers property damage and others in the event of an accident. You pay a lil more. I think I wound up paying like 20 bucks or so extra a month. But it sucks they blacklisted you. Nothing you can really do about it tho. Its their decision unfortunately. | Not Ranked : 0 score It's a private insurer so they can choose to insure whoever they want to. In this case they chose to not insure you - the only fault is that they did not give you ample (or any) warning. Because insurance is private where you are, then you can just choose a different company. Disclosing what needs to be disclosed for you to be rated correctly is important or they can deny your claim. We have public insurance here - 1 company. So they must legally insure you no matter what. You can have an accident every day, and drive a 2000hp Ford Fiesta, it will be insured as a standard Fiesta (as per VIN) and you will be paying something like 3-400% the standard rate for all the accidents but they will not deny you insurance. By law. The good thing is that if you are a shitty driver, you are insured. However, if you are a good driver, you pay more than you should for insurance since you have to carry all the deadbeats. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score They'd have to prove it just as well. Both parties entered into a contract and now one wishes not to uphold said contract. It would look even worse on them if they revoked coverage mid term. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score You could probably comb through the fine print & see that they've included an easy out clause to drop people, just like they did with you. Life is short. I vote fuck it & move on. Who knows, having to shop around might yield some cheaper insurance. Like I mentioned, insurance.com ftw. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well, looks like this case went all the way to the top dog . . . After careful under-hood examination, this is what the Gecko had to say. . . "I see a cool-air intake, it's got a NOS fogger system, the T4 turbo. I see a AIC controller, it has direct port nitrous injection and a stand-alone engine management system." It's not looking good . . .
